New Rig

Unread post by Tommy »

I am thinking of building a new rig sometime this year.

Any new hardware standing out that I should be looking at?

The new i7 extreme edition is a hell of a cpu but it's a hell of a price too, the amd ryzen series look pretty decent too and alot more sesnible of the price range, i7x is around $1800 just for processor amd is around $500

What kind of work do you need to do or is it mostly for gaming?
Also depends on what resolution you normally run.

Productivity & 1080p: X299 system with the new family of extreme processors that will be out in a few months.... or X99 if you don't worry about the latest/greatest.

Productivity and 1440p or above: AMD Ryzen 1700 or 1700x. Kicks Intel in the pants for productivity.

For purely gaming, Intel has the best processor out there now in the I7-7700K.

AMD's newest GPU's are supposed to be out in about 2 months. I would at least wait for that and see if it is competitive to Nvidia. You can't go wrong with Nvidia.... 10 series is awesome. I just made a new system in January with an Asus 1080 Strix and it kicks butt.

Good Luck... let me know if you want to talk about it. I will jump on TS if you do.

Finally bought a gaming rig this year. A CyberPower rig with a 3.8 Ghz processor and 8 gigs of ram for around $500. Went from 19 fps on BSGO to around 110. Makes me wish I'd done it years ago.
I'm thinking of getting a tower and putting one together from scratch.

Do it! You can build a really good gaming System pretty cheap these days, get it built in time for ut4!
