I recalled a joke about a polish highlander who lives in Zakopane (a ski resort in the Tatra Mountains).
Once a foreign tourist came up to the Highlander to ask him about the way to the ski lift.
The tourist didn't know Polish, so he asked:
- Do you speak English?
- Yo, yo - Highlander answered.
- Which way to the ski lift?
- ???
The tourist tried to ask in another language:
- Sprechen Sie Deutsch? (do you speak German?)
- Yo, yo.
- Wie gehen zu den Skilift? (How to get to the ski lift?)
- ???
- Parlez vous francais?
- Yo, yo.,
- ...
- Parla italiano?
- Yo, yo.
- ....
- ¿Habla usted español?
- Yo, yo.
- ....
The tourist came to realize that the Highlander does not know any foreign language and went.
That everything was watching an acquaintance of Highlander.
He came up to Highlander and said:
- You see, If you were good at languages could you talk to the foreigner.
- Pooh, the foreigner knew many languages and wasn't able to chat with me
