When it aired on HBO I was able to catch most of the 10 parts of Band of Brothers. The series covers the men of Easy Company through their training, the Normandy Invasion and into Germany during WWII.
Each episode starts of with some brief interviews with the people who were actually in Easy Company.
I bought the whole series. Great show.
Might be a bit graphic for some.
Here's a clip from the 3rd episode:

Re: Band of Brothers
Great series. I understand that Tom Hanks partnered with Spielberg to produce this after their experiences together with "Saving Private Ryan." Apparently, the historical significance of SPR hit Hanks pretty hard, and he wanted to do more.
So, some boring trivia...
The title of this, as most of you probably know, is taken from the "St Crispin's Day Speech" from Shakespeare's Henry V. The line is, "We few, we happy few, we band of brothers"
I am very familiar with the next line of the speech, as is it quite popular with military, law enforcement, and firefighters...
"For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother"
Tugs at the heart strings a little...
Anyway, good shows both, but I am quite happy to say that our tactics and strategies have changed considerably since those times...

A friend of mine gave me the complete series. I would have preferred a box of chocolates, or a perfume, but that's life...{DOU}Cygnus wrote:When it aired on HBO I was able to catch most of the 10 parts of Band of Brothers....

Anyway I agree, nice series. I identify with the team spirit that should be in a combat group..., your comrades are the most important in the battle, more than your arms or your personal courage...
Yes of course, otherwise you would be liquidated, suppressed or deleted of this world....M@DD0G wrote:...... I am quite happy to say that our tactics and strategies have changed considerably since those times...

I remember when the series was on cable here. It was great, very intense.
