Opah, what is your speed supposed to be? Being on Verizon at such a slow speed, you obviously have DSL. IT's amazing to me that Verizon has these 2 services. DSL is the dog, and FIOS is the god. Then Cable is in the middle.

If you live out in the sticks, then this is probably about right for DSL. But if you get this all the time and are expecting more than I would call and complain anyway. But if it is just a matter of you opting for an inexpensive 1.5meg connection, then you are right now track there buddy, lol.

So tell us what you think you should be getting.

Well I pay for 7 mg and they garn 512 upload sorta like waves came back! nothing worng just how cox is. They also have something called powerboost now to help speed up downloads nots sure on that maybe thats what makes mine or possably his so high sometimes or spikes it way higher then what we pay or supposeed to get which in my case is 7 mg. But from my test on here just we see im getting ahell of alot more then 7 mgs. who knows

Yup, I saw that earlier and we were discussing it in Vent. Makes sense now when I saw that speed boot thing mentioned on cox website.

I was wondering why I seemed to be left in the dust when everybody else in the country seemed to go to a 25+ meg connection.

I am thinking now that it might be a lame thing. With that boot thing screwing up the results, how would anybody know what they are getting, and if it is anywhere close to what they should be getting. I bet cox loves that.

well at least i know im getting atleast the 7 mgs im paying for . Its never drop below that. So i guess if i get a speed up every now and then its a blessing. So far i havent notice anything messing up because of it.

I called Cox. I am getting what I pay for.
The only upload speed that they offer that is better than what I have is 1 meg.
Dont really need it, never upload porn.

Well even if you or i or anyone else would get the faster upload it wouldnt do us any good if the server we are trying to download from speed is lower then what we have it will not speed it up any faster. Thats why i have sorta waited to get the faster 12 meg cox offers because some sites cant handle that fast of speed yet. so why pay for it if i cant use it that much yet.

Im changing from DSL to cable in a week or two.

I had the Embarq DSL too and couldn't wait to get rid of it. Embarq is another name for Sprint. Unless you live in the backyard of a Sprint location your speed and pings will really suck. When you go to the cable Talon, you will be wowed by the difference.
