As a Windows XP user, some of the worst things are the inevitable slow down of the OS, the junk that gets in the registry, and then the errors that accompany said junk. Therefore it is time for me to do a clean re-install of XP. Thanks to Draco, I now have a new copy of XP Black ready to put on this thing. I may not be around much in the coming days as I back up the important files and get readjusted.

It is a slightly... um... illegal copy of XP. All of the Windows activation and Genuine Windows stuff has been deactivated. To answer your question, yes it would work. You need a bittorrent client. Might I suggest http://www.utorrent.com/.

Yep, it kicks ass. It bypasses Genuine Advantage Checks and updates. Most of my computers here run it. We had a major problem when the SP3 came out a few weeks ago because it's a chopped-up hybrid of XP with all the stuff people actually like in Vista. SP3 trashed quite a bit of the Vista software. Here is an example of the version I use along with torrent.

It's a very slick little install, too. As long as you are formatting the entire drive and it isn't going to be dual boot, you literally drop the disk in, restart, and walk away. Come back half an hour later and you are already finished. It even auto loads the drivers. Have a good one.

You have to be smart about your download and upload speeds on the bittorrent client. Set the download speed to unlimited. Do not do so for the upload speed.

The faster you upload, the faster you will download, that is how the protocol works. You are rewarded for sharing. However, if you have the upload speed maximized, then you choke your own pipe. The download acks won't go out fast enough and then your download speed will crawl.

Set the upload speed to maximum and see what it tops off around. Then drop it back about 20k/sec. After some time the transfer should really pick up.

Speed also increases with the more of the file you have. You become more interesting to other downloaders so their client connects to you and thus shares with you.

The ratio of seeders to leechers will make a difference too.

Unless the file that link points to has been changed, there shouldn't be a problem with the install itself. There are keygens included in the main iso that are registered as viruses but actually aren't. They get installed in a folder on the desktop when the install completes and you just delete them without using them. I have this installed on 3 machines at my house and several other friends machines. Not one of them has been infected as of yet. The machines here at my house have been running 3 months without an issue. Just delete the keygen folder from the desktop after install, download and/or install your favorite antivirus, then scan away. DO NOT LET IT UPDATE TO SERVICE PACK THREE. It does ugly things to the install. Have a good one.
