Mapping/UnrealEd

So - against my better judgment I've decided to start using UED for mapping. Something I've never done before and really didn't have an interest in until about a week ago.

Long story short - the program is a fucking bitch :herestoyou: . I've spent many hours teaching myself the program as I create my first map and I've kicked each of my dogs seventy three times since last Friday Night. I have no hair left, broken my 3rd monitor and have flipped off everyone I see when leaving my house. So, my question is...

Does anybody here have knowledge of the program beyond the basics that would be interested in a little coaching?

**cough cough ** South Paw

My dogs would really like it too.

I've been there. Since I've stopped "experimenting" with UnrealED my pitbull has finally come out of the corner and will actually eat something. I've found a few helpful tutorials through google, but nothing that saved me from my insanity. Sounds to me like you were in my shoes. Save yourself, save your wife, and save your family. It's a beast you can't win against. Stare into the abyss long enough, and the abyss will stare back at you.

I messed with it some before but not for a long time. Maybe I should try again now that I have a computer that can better handle it.

It's not too bad after you get the navigation down. I found an update that helps out with the crashes too.

So here's the first screen shot from the map I've spent the better part of 3 weeks on so far. It's not even half done, a bit over saturated/contrasty in this pic because the light is a little low right now. I'll add more light as I go. But for now I'd just like to document my progress....

So here I am again - 3rd time RE-starting the map of shear HELL. I make it about a third of the way through and the same f'n problem occurs.

Here's the issue, if anyone - - - - ANYONE has any information that be useful, I would greatly appreciate it!!....

When I create a brush/structure in my build room, successfully export and import the brush to my world and then add it, I build all - save and then play the map to be sure that it looks and has been added to my satisfaction. When I play the map I get this horrible glitch - or house of mirrors effect in one portion of the map nowhere near the site that I've added the new brush to. When I go back and delete the brush re-build, save and then play the glitch goes away. The I move on to another area of the map, add another brush in the same fashion and then the damn glitch appears again. I've zoned/portaled the area off with no luck. It seems to be in only one place in the map but an area big enough that it ruins the playability of the whole thing. Has this happened to anyone else?

I really hate to throw away many hours of work again and give up.

I guess this would be a large room, it's an "outdoor" map. However here are some screens:

Nice work Otis... Congratulations... :D

I'm preparing two maps too.
Here some pics: the first is an abandoned nuclear plant... the other, a city... both are very dark... now I am testing bots positions and paths...
