Never tried to make baked beans before. I usually get a can of Bush's. But lately I've wanted to make them from scratch and I tried the recipe below. It wasn't alot of work and my first attempt turned out pretty good.
CROCK POT BAKED BEANS
1 lbs. dry navy beans
2/3 tbsp. instant minced onion
2/3 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
2/3 tbsp. dry mustard
2/3 c. ketchup
1/4 c. (scant) dark molasses
2/3 tbsp. salt
2 c. water
1/4 lb. salt pork, diced (Bacon is as good)
Place dry beans in large bowl or crock; cover with cold water. Soak 6-8 hours or overnight; drain. Pour soaked beans into crock.
Combine onion, sugar, dry mustard, ketchup, molasses, salt in small bowl. Blend thoroughly; add to beans in crock. Stir. Add water, salt pork; blend all ingredients thoroughly.
Cook on high at least 8 hours; stir occasionally after 5 hours. Makes 2 quarts.
