new Gaming Headset

I’m breaking almost every headset I’m wearing. Now I’m up to my fourth set for this year.

Hopefully I will last for a while. I wasn’t that much on ventrillo because I had to use two broken sets. One for hearing and one for speaking.

Just bought a new gamer headset: the "Razer Megalodon" and it looks like it will do the job for some time.

I also looked for the "Logitech G35". The future will tell if I’ve made a good choice this time.

my headset has done me pretty well, its a logitech, not sure what model etc. bought it at Bestbuy after breaking several myself, and the offered a 2 year warranty. i took it, thinking it'l get me a new headset in a couple months. well, two years later its still working very well. i've even ripped the usb end of it but it still works just the same.

Razer Megalodon 7.1 Gaming Headset:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C6m8Xzcf ... re=related

After my previous headset had broken down due to heavy use, I went looking for alternatives for the ones I had. After looking around and reading reviews I found the Razer Megalodon on a Dutch auction site. The Megalodon that I buyed came with a travel pouch. A special hard case that is excactly big enough for housing the Megalodon.

The Megalodon can connect by USB. You actually do not even need a sound card in your PC to make it work. The headphone looks really beautiful, there are blue LEDs on the ear pads that light up and the Razer logo controlepod is completely illuminated. In this pod, you can control the volume of both the exhaust ( music) and input (mic). You can also switch between 2.0 and 7.1 sound.

The sound quality of this headset is great. Both the 7.1 and 2.0 give a very bright sound. The 7.1 is certainly not a real but a virtual surround sound (only two boxes). But I think it works equally well as a full surround. For gaming I myself have experienced that you really can hear things much better. For music it gives a very warm sound with strong bass.

The sound of the microphone is very clear. The pod can also easily mute the micro with a push on a button. The headset sits perfectly on your head. The headband is a kind of cushion. You don’t feel any pressure when it’s on your head. It doesn’t weight much so there is hardly any pressure.
The ear pads fits perfectly around your ears. It’s made of a very soft material to avoid irritation.
I didn’t ever before wear such a comfortable headset.

The price is on the high side, but you get an awfull lot in return. It is made of a solid (plastic) material that can last for many years, even with heavy use. The price in the shop is around € 169,- . I did buy mine for just €35,- !

For me this was one of the best purchases I've made in years. If you are looking for a gaming headset, this one is definitely good!
