Re: Hi! I'm QwazyWabbit
Thanks guys. As for the IP, I strain to remember IP addresses these days. I have to put sticky-notes up on the monitor.

Hi! I'm QwazyWabbit
I'm as old as dirt and have been playing Q2 since 1997 or so. I've known Tommy since before there was a ClanDOU. I'm leader of ClanWOS but not a founder of that clan. I've played a little UT sniper and Fortnight but I mostly like to work on Quake II mod code. I maintain Q2 LOX, Q2 Railwarz, GameCam ...

Re: SERVER DOWN?
Pardon me while I tweak and futz with the server configurations. I had them configured as Windows Services (detached processes for you Linux geeks) but the technique that needs to be used leaves them vulnerable to crashing of the game server but leaving a remnant of the service running that makes re...

Re: SERVER DOWN?
Friday, December 6, I performed some server updates. I brought the game servers down and did all the critical and optional Windows Updates. I also installed and tweaked the IPSEC tool and blocked some IP's who were attempting to brute force their way into the server. I'm sure that will be an ongoing...

The domain is parked at godaddy.com and redirects to nsa.gov, someone had a few bucks for a nice joke.

Re: World Clock?
Answer: No
It's a calculated estimate of estimated rates. Estimates, by definition, are not accurate.
The US population for example is 311 million on the clock. The official 2010 census came up with 308.7 million. They are going to have to make some adjustments on the clock.

Re: Hackintosh
Yeah, I knew it was rhetorical. I like the fact you don't need a bogged-down bloatware A-V app to protect your machine from idiots. Win7 is behaving like that now too. The main idiot now is the person who indiscriminately opens attachments from email and web. --- and Flash/Adobe vulnerabilities. :) ...

Re: Hackintosh
My first experience with Ubuntu was Hardy Heron and it sucked, big time. Slow and incomplete. Sat there hanging for simple disk I/O on a vanilla PC. I didn't even try to diagnose it. For my development needs I ended up using Fedora Core, can't remember which version but I now have a stable FC8 that ...

Re: SKYLINE
WotW, the H.G. Wells book they were based on was much better.
I didn't think Independence Day was as much a remake of WotW since in the end the humans were victorious because they were bad-ass, cigar smoking, whiskey drinking, fighter jocks, not bacteria for which the aliens had no immunity.

Pricey, yes. But very stylish. :) My company-issue Dell is 5 years old and the pot-metal hinge has failed and the display is about ready to fall off. The company isn't planning to replace the units and the repair/replacement agreement is expired so we can't even get them fixed through Dell. Our IT d...
