Just thought I'd update that I discovered the root problem of this. My system would shut down when I ran the defragmenter because my CPU's were overheating. I have a gaming laptop and when I would run any kind of intensive program the whole system would shut down. Turns out from a small CPU temperat...

Thanks pebcak, that did the trick! 27.85% fragmented before, 2.30% after. Then disk cleanup worked fine.

I like that defragmenter better than the XP one.

When I try to do a disk cleanup, during the first part where it is compressing old files, my screen goes black and then the system shuts down. Any ideas?

Plenty of disk space left (10+ GB), no detected viruses, systems runs fine otherwise.
