I've seen the original, I've seen the crappy 80's version and I wasn't expecting much out of this new King Kong. IMO it takes a tad long to get the story moving (3 hour flick) but once they get on the ship the story doesn't look back.
Overall I have to say this newest version kicks ass and the fight scenes between Kong and some of the other island inhabitants is worth the price of admission alone.
It was very well done and you should check it out if you have the chance.
