Changeover????

What the heck are you talking about????

CPU's and speeds???

2 to 3 or even maybe 4 Gigahertz...(Billions of operations per second...ex. 1GHz = 1,000,000,000.0 Hertz or AC = 60Hz)

Power What???

End Consumer...

Mac G5 Quad Core???

AMD Opteron Dual Core???

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core???

I don't know if Intel is getting any fame out of their CPU's or have any Dual core tech on one CPU....

Video Cards???

Forget the On-Board BS...

Underated shared system RAM chopped down and rely on CPU power...

PCI express or AGP???

128, 256 or 512 Meg???

Dual Processor...

SLI?

# of Pipelines...

Frames, Texels per second...

Rendering > Hardware, Software, DirectX...Glide...?

Maximum Color and rezoultion...

SVGA 15 pin 3 line D-Sub or DVI???

Compisite or s-video out?

14, 15, 17, 19, 20 or 21 INCH???

CRT, projector, LCD, Plasma or LCOS???

Hard Drives...

SCSSI, IDE, SATA???

40, 80, 120, 160, 200, 250, 300 GIG???(GIGabytes ex. 1GIG = 1,000,000,000.0 Bytes)

CD, DVD, R, RW, +, -???

What's the next generation of DVD's??? Blu-Ray!!!(hence CD and DVD uses a RED laser beam and the Blue laser uses a finer Wavelength)

CD 750Meg, DVD 4.7(one side single layer)-9.4(one side dual layer)-18.8Gig(and two sides dual layer) and Blu-Ray 68Gig??? I can't wait!!!
:woot:

What is Dual layer DVD's You ask???
Imagine the single layer information is recorded like this...
>--- -- - --- - --- ---- -- - --- - --- ---- -- - --- - -<
And the Dual layer information is recorded like...
>-- -=-- -=== -===-- ==-= === -==-= =-=-<
Does this solve any mystery??? the laser actually is focused like the distance between two far points like one is closer than the other...

2, 2.1, 3.1, 4.1, 5.1, 6.1, 7.1 channel audio???
The more the better sounding living room you've got???
Front left, Front Right, Front Center, Rear Left, Rear Right, Rear Center and don't forget the SUB??? OOps that's only a 6.1 setup... what's the extra Channel in the 7??? an extra front center...
but what does the numbers mean???? 2.1 or 4.1???
>#of regular speakers.Number of Subs<(don't forget about the ".")
If you setup your audio like 4.2 you would be pretty much set...(why the ".2"??? try a SUB on the Left channel and a SUB on the right channel)

What the heck am I talking about???

When it comes down to point it may lead to just taking asprin from your favourite Mom and POP shop arround the corner...

But when trying to communicate it to a friend he may have to stop taking the rock that he gets from the run down apartment in the bad side of town...

SHit! :banghead:

Being told that a "Modem Riser" connecter is a PCI Express connecter???
I'm sure that the M/B may use the connecter in some way to take advantage of PCI Express BUS but don't Expect to Plug in the new Video card into it...

A+ Certified my but!!!

I know that I'm not A+ Certified but when I was looking arround on the walls at buddys place I saw no credentials...(Hint Hint)

Anyways... If you like to learn technology make sure your straight not COOKED!!! :toilet_claw: :loco: You really might miss something...

But to rap up on this SHIN-Dig of info... What were you shopping for anyways???

A home computer???(Meaning Entertainment)

Wanna use it for gaming???

Or just something for the kids???

Or quite possibly "Something SIMPLE" like an internet toaster???(HUH??? you ask??? Well the meaning goes back in mid 1990's where you pick up a keyboard looking device and plug it into the phone line and your TV to use the internet... I'm not quite sure of any avilability of such a device as they were not that popular or advertized widely enough...)

My 2 cents...

P.S. If there's anything that you would like to add please don't quote all of this as it may be a hassle... but input is appreciated... Just reply type and submit...
