PCI Express Vid Card?

I'm building an even newer 3.2GHz system with a MB that uses a PCI Express slot as opposed to an AGP.

Any of you guys running a PCIE? Any recommendations?

I have a ATI 700 pro 256 mb pcie Card in my new rig....Works good
with games and video. got it on Pricewatch was 96.00 not the very best
but works real well anyway....seemless

Nvidia 7900 GT is a good deal. It's supposed to be faster than the 7800 GTX.

I suggest Nvidia, they texture clamp, ATI doesn't.

"Conformant Texture Clamp: Conformant Texture Clamping refers to a method the Forceware drivers use to determine the way texture boundaries appear. You should note firstly that this setting only affects OpenGL games, and secondly you should choose whether to enable or disable this setting based on whether you see any visual anomalies in a particular game. That is, initially set Conformant Texture Clamping to On for optimal visual quality and performance. Then if in a particular OpenGL game you notice laggy behavior or strange lines in textures for example you can set this option to Off to see if things improve."

Now that the 7900GT is out, why not get a 7800GT cos i bet the've dropped in price a good bit.
I've got a 7800GT PCIE and i can turn all the settings all the way to max on every game i play and that includes Battlefield 2 and Half-Life 2.
What more do you need?, plus you have some spare beer money!
I would recommend an SLI board also, so you can run 2x PCIE cards in the future.

I got me a ATI 9250 128 meg AGP... runs great but can't get it to use the higher graphics in doom 3 because the guys look split down the middle and it's a bit chopppy so I dropped the graphics and it looks fine...

Then again the more vid ram you got the better...

PCI-E is suposed to be twice as fast as AGP 8x

the Nvidia is supposed to be great for gaming...
(my friend has a 128 meg GeForce 5500 AGP and has no complaints running World of Warcraft)

but the most Vid RAM you can get on one card is 512Meg...

but don't put a hole in your pocket just yet!

Did you already build the main part of your system? Don't tell me you went Intel.

It's all Intel stuff, but you have to understand that I'm getting the board, 3.2GHz proc, heatsink and 2 gig memory all for free. All I need to buy is the video card. It's a good deal.
