Get Unreal Tournament For Free

Epic screwed up and made it possible to get UT99 for free legally. While I am sure that at the time they were unhappy about this, it is possible. I am sure they don't give a shit about it now though.

What happened was they put out a demo version of the game. Then they put out a patch for the full game. If you use the full game patch on the demo, it will work and turn the demo into a full version of the game. It will be lacking in some maps, etc, but it will work just fine for online play. you will just have a lot to download your first visit to a few servers.

Here is what you do. First download and install the demo (but don't run it):

UT99 Demo

Then download the upgrade patch and apply it to the demo:

UT99 Version 4.36 Patch

After this is done, fire up the game and connect to one of our UT99 servers. You should be all set.

If this doesn't work for you, please let us know. However, I have already had reports that it does work, so make sure you are doing this right first.

P.S. This only works with the Windows version of the game. Mac and Linux users will have to install the full version to play online.

I just tried this on a new gaming computer I built this week. Worked fine per your instructions. :D

DAM!!!, and I went out and bought the game when I could have gotten it for free...

I picked up myself the "UNREAL ANTHOLOGY" 4 pack DVD

After all it comes with a copy of...
Unreal...
Unreal Tournament - Game of the Year Edition...
Unreal II - The Awakening...
UT2004... DOH!!!
Wait a minute I already bought the CD version of UT2004... DOH!!!

Anyways I should be set untill the next UT comes out late this year!!! hehehe...

Now that the servers are down for a bit play Unreal...

1. Get a check up with the doctor to make sure your in shape. Heart condition should be checked for sure.

2. Watch some scary ass movie first to build your fear tolerance up so as you don't rocket blast your foot off when you get surpised by a Skarj.

3. Play it in the dark no lights on in the room. Turn the sound up, Adjust bass to get a nice rumble sound balance goin that sounds good and won't tear up the speaks.

4. Run Unreal and run for your life prisoner!

Some games can give you some stress or a lil excited. Unreal is the only game that would get my heart beat pumpin fast at times. Soft echos, dark halls, then BAM! You get jumped and you feel the fight or flee conflict in ya. The game sucks ya out of this world and into Unreal deep and dark fast.

Lottsa luck.

PS. There are advantages of playin with different classes I remember. Skarj jump higher and further... Humans can fit in nooks ez... Nali can fall long distance with no damage etc... I don't know if I'd play it online again UT is better for multi. The single player rocks.

OH GAWD!... And I finished playing through DOOM 3 and QUAKE 4...

I'm not too fond of playing the straight game of UT when I have internet... at times when I didn't have internet available I had ran UT with as many BOTS as I could...

Watching movies??? watched and watched and watched.... too lazy to click on my DVD player and drop in a DVD....

Kinda wanted to start showing our pride in jumping on other servers to say hi to the commuunity...out there... you know...TKK...SUF...ASC...and don't forget the rest of them...sorry if I had left them all out but no the least forgotten...

Think I'm gonna dump my UT install and do it fresh. Been loading reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally slow as of late. Starin to piss me off a tad :P

ok, so I couldnt wait and wanted to get it done :twisted: I uninstalled the old and for some strange reason when I re-installed it still had all the old DOU soldier skins in it plu7s a few others I had like the nali's ect. All my faverites were wiped out along with my settings but the skins remained? Got me baffeled?

Yep! When you uninstall, it leaves everything behind that wasn't part of the original package. When you reinstalled, Everything that wasn't part of the package didn't get overwritten leaving behind all the custom maps, textures, sounds, music, and system files. If you want to get rid of everything and start over fresh, you have to uninstall then go in to your C: drive and delete the Unreal Tournament folder left behind. Then you reinstall the Unreal Tournament and you have a fresh clean install. Have a good one.
