Ordered New Laptop

Unread post by {DOU}cHiCkEn »

Finally decided on a laptop. I decided I wanted to try and build the best gaming machine I could for less than $1500. Tall order, but I think I did pretty well.

So, I ordered an HP dv9000t. It has excellent reviews on all the tech sites.

My custom build includes:

Operating System: Windows(R) XP Professional

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo processor T7200 (2.0 GHz)

Display: 17.0" WXGA+ BrightView Widescreen (1440x900)

Graphics Card: 256MB NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) Go 7600

FREE Upgrade: HP Imprint Finish/Microphone/Webcam

Memory: FREE Upgrade to 1024MB DDR2 System Memory

Hard Drive: 100GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive

CD/DVD Drive: LightScribe Super Multi 8X DVD+/-RW w/Double Layer

Networking: Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection

Total: $1398

It's not meant to replace my desktop gamer, but will play UT99 / 2004 just fine in a nice portable package that won't break the bank. :)

Ships Jan. 1st.

Will do. If you wait a while they are supposedly at some point going to offer the T7400 2.16 GHz processor in this machine. I couldn't wait as I wanted to get this in before I head back to Estonia next month.

Just got an email that my laptop was shipped today. A full week before the time given when I ordered. It was built and shipped from Shanghai, China. Should have it in 5 - 7 days via FedEx. :D

Played todays FN ladder match on the laptop with no issues at all. I can definitely recommend this machine. Excellent gaming rig for the money.

As always, I am excited about possibly quad cores in laptops. This makes it tough for me to get one now. Sigh...

Yeah, there will always be a new and better thing on the horizon. I guess you just have to base your needs with your wants.
