New video hardware always has buggy drivers. They rush the hardware, develop the code offshore or concurrently to constantly changing specs and test hardware. They emulate the code thru the VHDL version of the chips they intend to build and continuously change the driver code, the VHDL code and the basic hardware until it's an unholy mess.

Then they ship it to meet arbitrary deadlines.

Then, even before users get a chance to really bitch about it, they ship new drivers based on this weeks version of the shipping video cards which may or may not be the same as last weeks video cards.

Fun, isn't it?

Video card installation procedure:
Install video card and drivers from box.
Find out drivers are NFG, download latest from web site.
Play games, find out drivers are NFG, download a newer updated driver.
Play more games, find out drivers are FUBAR, download 3rd party patch.
Update every couple of days until the update rate falls off to zero because the next "NEW" video card is in development or has shipped.

Or you might even find no more user support for your devices...
