Sup Yall,

A few things that I have been playing with and find to be indispensable.

Rocket Dock

http://rocketdock.com/

FREE and will give you a little Macintosh goodness in your Windows. (You are welcome Tommy).

Spamihilator

http://www.spamihilator.com/

FREE and works upstream of your email client. The program learns what is spam and what is good email. Pretty easy install and config and is updated regularly.

Firefox

http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/

FREE 'nuff said. If you have to ask crawl out from under that rock.

Pidgin

http://www.pidgin.im/

FREE Instant messaging client that does pretty much everything. AIM, Yahoo, MSN, ICQ, IRC, Google Chat.

Miro

http://www.getmiro.com/

FREE If you have fat pipes give it a try. On demand video. Lots in HD.

VLC Media Player

http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

FREE If it is a video clip this thing WILL play it.

Media Monkey

http://www.mediamonkey.com/

FREE Got shitloads of tunes? This is the management tool for you.

Auslogics Disk Defrag

http://www.auslogics.com/en/software/disk-defrag

Defrag tool. Better and faster than the one that came with your system. Works in Vista too.

Enjoy

I think my computer may be overheating when i play games. I have had the side panel off for a while but lately games have been freezing on me.

so do you know of a free program that monitors processor heat and stuff and that will create a file or log that is saved to the computer.

since my computer freezes i have to hold the power button down and restart it i need to have the log file that i can open after i restart the computer to look to see the stats when my computer froze were.

Mother Board Monitor (have to Google it I forgot the URL)

Fan Speed (Same thing)

All depends on what your motherboard monitors what the software can do for you. Make sure all of the dust bunnies are cleaned up also. And the fan blades are clean.

Hey southpaw...you might think its better to open up the case, but actually it makes it worse, the case is there to help direct airflow from the fans, as well as to keep dust out. As far as your freezing issues, for the physical part get a can of that compressed air and clean out the interior of your computer. Mine gets gunked up with dust and cat fur..lol...I was amazed how much stuff was in the case filter. As far as the "non-physical" part, do the usual and check for viruses, spyware, malware, adware etc etc. I use Avast and Nod32 for viruses, Spybot and Ad-Aware for the nasties you might have unknowkingly gotten from websites and software downloads. Another idea is to do a system restore to a date prior to when you started having problems. Good Luck!!!

Thnx pebcak! VLC Media Player worked well with the movie "Heavy Metal 2000". It wouldn't play on anything else without asking for a codec.
I got some to add:

Pivot

http://files.snapfiles.com/localdl834/Pivot.zip

Pivot Stick Figure Animator is one awesome program! It will amuse you for hours and it sooo easy to use. You can make some pretty funny animations with stick figures and compile it into one east .gif file.

Unreal Tournament Game of the Year Edition

http://www.xantaz.net/free-game-files/U ... extras.zip

The FULL game! I couldn't believe it either. But I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for this discovery.
