Okay. How the hell do you dodge?? I tried hitting the direction keys as fast as I possibly could but no freaking dodging. What am I doing wrong?
*EDIT* Please see subject. I now realize that it is a check box in options.
I admit it. I am a dumbass.

Well it's to late to turn back now, you already admitted it

The No-Dodge mod you guys run on your camping server has disabled it.{DOU}The Jargonaut wrote:Okay. How the hell do you dodge?? I tried hitting the direction keys as fast as I possibly could but no freaking dodging. What am I doing wrong?

You need to go to Options>Preferences>GameTab and make sure that you
have dodging checked.
Next, is the fun part. If you are a musican, I've found comparing it to music
is what unlocked it for me. To forward flip, you double-tap the forward key.
To flip to the right, double-tap forward while holding the right key. Do the same
thing holding the left key to flip left. The flips are tighter so the distance you
dodge is shorter. Side dodges look just like you jumped sideways only twice as
fast as a jump and the distance covered is twice as far as a flip. You do a side
dodge by double-tapping the side keys. A back dodge looks like you jumped
backwards only twice as fast.
The rhythm needed is quite simple. If your a musician just think of an old blues
shuffle. If you listen to 'Bad to the Bone' by George Thoroughgood, that is the
rhythm needed to dodge only sped up a whole lot.For a visual representation,
just look at this:
. _ . _ . _ . _ . _ . _ . _ . _ . _ . _ . _
The second tap is actually held for just a bit longer than the first. If you don't
hold the second tap longer than the flips won't complete. Default tap speed in
game is 0.25 which means you have to execute both taps in under a
quarter of a second for the game to recognize it as a dodge. Once you get the
timing down, you work on getting combinations put together. If you can get
5 dodges put together smoothly without error, people will see you moving twice
as fast for that combination.
The way I practice dodging is I fire up a single player game and type in
'Behindview 0'. You will now be seeing yourself in 3rd person view and you
will be able to see if your hard work is paying off.

Thanks Draco. I really doubt that I will ever be good at freestyle, but I will practice it and give it a try.

Learning how to dodge will open up a whole new dimension to
your gameplay. Just remember that it is all in the natural
rhythm of the game. The game actually has a heart-beat that
you need to learn and it affects transing as well as
dodging. Once you get that, you will be a whiz. Have a good one
all.
