Friday, December 6, I performed some server updates. I brought the game servers down and did all the critical and optional Windows Updates. I also installed and tweaked the IPSEC tool and blocked some IP's who were attempting to brute force their way into the server. I'm sure that will be an ongoing battle but the admins now have the tools to maintain the upper hand.
At Tommy's request I also fixed up and installed some auto-restart scripts that will restart the servers if they crash. All the game servers are currently running under monitor-restart control but if the computer is restarted they will all have to be manually started. Hopefully it won't happen before I can devise a method to start them all up automatically at reboot.
