I am thinking that we will have a no "no close kill" weekend.
I haven't done something like this in a long time. Basically, we will not necessarily be getting rid of it, we will just turn it off for the weekend and see how it goes.
I know a few people like Natan and Rad will have heart attacks over this, but please consider the following:
01) We are just testing it for a weekend
02) Do you remember how many years we went without that mutator? DOU's popularity came about before that mutator, not because of it.
We'll discuss it further, but be aware that a few people have asked me to revisit having the mutator or the server at all. So it's not just people in favor of it. You all know how I feel about it (one of the main reasons I don't play at all any more).
So, lets just do a test. That's all, a test. Christ, I can hear Natan already....

They named it the "close kill mod" but it's purpose was really the "keep Tommy away mod". :herestoyou:
Kind of like how they give legislation some fluffy name when the opposite is really true. Maybe it should have been the "Tommy's Kryptonite Act"!

No problem. It simply means that I will exclude the option of mercy in my style of playing, especially in relation to Tommy. :gib:
A lot of people are bitching about the mod being turned off. It looks like a couple of our less civilized visitors are taking advantage of it. Is this a test or what? I haven't seen any posts announcing the change.
Natan decided to try it out.
Remember, that for the majority of time DOU has been around we did not have the mod. Back then we just policed the server. While we test this out, we can do so again. If you have admin, do so. If you don't then you need to get with Natan or myself to get a quick lesson and then admin abilities.

Nope, I'm not complaining one way or the other. I can admin, but what's the rule now? How do we define it and call it out unless we happen to be watching through the lens of the person committing the offense every time it happens? After it being on for so long now, I think people are taking it that if it's not there, anything is fair game.
So now is the mod turned on again? Playing with Boom last night we noticed bot's heads popping off and tested it on each other. What's the plan going forward?
I've put it back on again for now. Might be confusing for players, but it probably happened when the server restarted.
Tommy will take a look into it on how to prevent this.
Oh, I thought it was some experiment or something since the idea was mentioned before. That explains why there was no heads-up.
No, it stays on as an experiment. I was answering this question.

Close kill mod is OK and should be turned on. Many players, especially old regulars, complained that some players stopped camping. :smash:

So it being on is the experiment? That's one long running experiment!
:smash: The mod off is in the experimental stage now.
The mod stays off the experiment is on.... 🙄 😆

If players aren't camping they should get a warning, just like we did before the mod.
