Hardware Failure Imminent

Just an FYI to everybody, the server box HDD has a bad sector on it. Obviously this is not good. I am in the process of backing up the entire box and then I will put a ticket in. It is 50 / 50 if they will do anything about it. Some companies are pro-active, others want to wait for failure to replace.

Regardless, the drive is bad. It is not an if situation, but rather a when situation. The drive will eventually fail. I will just keep current with backups and if they replace the drive now, great. Otherwise we will just have to wait for it to fail.

Hard to ask for a replacement HD? I'm sure if there is a bad sector found the rest are sure to go... I'm glad that there are backups made to ensure that we can recover from the most obvious.

If any Data Center wants to keep their customers they should be able to replace any HD that is failing. Should be the most simple thing to do.

RAID redundancy?
