Having admined the server this week, I know how crappy it has become. I don't even play anymore because of this.
I like Cygnus' idea. I would enjoy playing on a less populated, strict camping server.
How about this alternative.
We make a copy of the sniper server and put it on the current Freestyle server.
Rename it to the No Rules server. No admining will be required.
Put up some banners on the Camping server in English, Spanish, and whatever advertising that server.
Now... IF someone gets banned from the camping server, they are BANNED FOREVER.
They can, of course, play on the No Rules server whenever they want (as long as they are not running cheats).
The result will be a popular camping server, and I would bet a popular No Rules server. In the beginning, there will still be a lot of admining, but as we weed out the runners and undesirables, there will be less and less until we have two separate communities of No Rules players and strict Campers. This would also make it easy for Tommy and DM because the servers will be identical, so making changes will be easy.
Thoughts? Comments?
I really like the idea. Hell I think a no rules server would be fun once in a while.

There is a downside to this. The camping server will not be as popular as it is now on Game Tracker because we will be weeding out the runners. BUT, I would bet that the serious campers would start flocking to our server as soon as word gets around.
The main reason for this suggestion is that the server is like a small company. We have customers that want different products, so why not supply the products that they want? Everyone is happy and our customer base (player count) grows.
Also, is there a way to easily ban an I.P. from the server for a set amount of time, like a one button bush for a three day ban? Canny was asking about it last night concerning Namasaka (or whatever).

Then only thing I would change would be: 2 kicks on sniper server = permanent ban. We should allow for a miscommunication, language barrierrs, and other odd ball discrepanices that may happen.
I like it a lot but I wonder if it wouldn't be easier to get the campers to go to a new sniper server and turn the existing sniper server into the no rules server. Let'em have the dam thing. Even when we had the freestyle server up and running no one wanted to go there because it wasn't populated

I think most of guy wants a sniper server with less rules to run and gun...
The maps are important also. UZI server maps are small maps full of little things moving around and popping up everywhere.
That are the reasons because the UZI server is not populated. I just stand there a few minutes. Is unpleasant.
I prefer The Jargonaut idea, with two sniper servers, with the maps of the sniper server.
I like both ideas.

It wont work the run and gunners are there because of easy kills, breaking the rules and general trouble they don't want to play on a free style server .......

Agreed. Two kicks would be sufficient.

Here I disagree simply because predicting human behavior is like predicting the weather. You get it right most of the time, but sometimes surprises do occur. I think that most of the problems on the server are people that just wanna run around and shoot others. I believe this because in most of the games out there today (Call of Duty, Halo, Battlefield, etc.), Free form is the most common play style. There are no rules, just shoot as many of the other team as possible to win the game. The few that are there to make life miserable will be much easier to contain and control.
We have to remember that we are old school... The gaming world has progressed since 1999. Also, this will give those people a place to play without disrupting the old schoolers. I know that there are admins that are getting pretty fed up with having to police the server so much. Fed up=not logging on=less admins=more bullshit.
I ask that either this or Cygnus' idea be tried, simply because the status quo is not successful. If you need help banning people, I offer my time as long as you teach me how it is done.

No there is a freestyle server with a sniper rifle but tommy never progressed with it, it still only has stock small maps. I would play it more if it was basically a copy of the main server with less rules. I think it would be pretty popular if it had all the stuff off the main server but allowed the R&G crowd to do their thing.

No there is a freestyle server with a sniper rifle but tommy never progressed with it, it still only has stock small maps. The only way I can see a sniper server working is to have mods in it, that way you won't need to police it as the people that don't like it will go somewhere else. Just remember folks, there are alot of other freestyle servers out there and there are alot of sniper 1's as well. Sorry to say though I believe we will always have issues, though the answer is: do you want to police it( no mods ) or play and have fun( mods ) ❓

Agreed.
I think that would eliminate a lot of assaults and revenges with one swoop. People for the most part can't seem to take the high road when faced with simple choices in-game.
