With the new Redeemer / Uzi / JB server up, I am going to kill the uzi server on the practice server box.
So we need to decide what we want to do with the practice server now.
I am uploading all of the ladder maps to the sniper server, so I suspect that most practicing will be done on that server. But I don't think we should take the practice server public as we will still want to have events on that server (dou v dou, clan matches, etc.). But it does mean that the server will get a lot less use. So maybe we can think of something else to do with it when we aren't practicing.
Here are some ideas:
01) Downgrade the server to version 440 (from 451) so that freezetag will work. Then have occassional matches dou v dou style or with friends of dou.
02) Put up an entirely new game, taking it down just when we need to use the server for something else.
03) Run a UT2k4 Freezetag server taking itg down just when necessary for a clan event.
I like options 1 and 3 the most, but I am open to suggestions from other people. If I went the 1 / 3 route, the server would basically be a practice/event server, part-time ut99 freezetag server, most of the time ut2k4 freezetag server.
Once I get my new machine and can run more games there will be more options, but I tried to admin a server once that I couldn't run and it was a nightmare. But for the future, look at http://escapedturkey.net/ on the home page for a list of games that we have available. No valve games though as valve never makes mac versions of their games. That pretty much means the half life series and the counterstrike series. Counterstrike CSS was the game I tried to admin for Marine many months ago when he used to come around with Maddog. It was a bitch.

What about a pure run and gun server like some clans had (99 or 2k4).
TKK had a "pure sniper camper server" and a "no damn rules server" so, no freestyle sniper player were coming in the camper server ! But for now, they killed one of their 2 servers to dedicate it to ladder matches.
And I know that freestyle players (using our kind of rifle) are rather numerous and don't find a lot of freestyle servers...
Alienclan was verymuch played by freestylers... I did some games there a time.
Just an idea...

Yes but I see no sniper rifle (like ours) in it ?! 🙄
I could talk to a friend of mine about getting a full auto sniper rifle if you want to go to a freestyle server.
