99 Server Maps

I think there are a lot of maps now on the practiceserver that aren't on the sniper server. Some for a good reason, like mAmA mentioned because they are not camp-able or have too many secrets in it.

But I saw some that are camp-able and it would be easy to put them back on the sniper server again. Ofcourse I don't know with which reason some of them are on the practice- and not on the sniper server. But I will take a look at it to see if there still are any maps that are worthy to put back on the sniper server again.

Let's take off the maps that we don't need BEFORE we add anymore. Otherwise, it'll be harder to find the new maps anyway. Here's my list of duplicate maps and/or maps that have multiple versions. I say we start with this before entering into a possible quagmire on which maps people dislike the most. Addition by Subtraction so to speak.

Office in Zahltag

Pizza Shop (multiple versions)

Bommies (multiple versions)

Afterlife City (Regular and FN)

Derelict City (multiple versions)

Shrapnel Bay (Regular and FN)

Skullys Landing

Skullys Basement

Bowl (FBI and FBI FN)

Brave New World (Regular and Version 2)

Kitchen (3 and PM and aka) DELETE ALL OF THESE IMO

Zahltag Remix (SL 1 AND 2)

Airport (REG VERSION AND VERSION 2)

Infinity City - 5 different versions

Condo - 4 different versions

Also, I have been looking for more maps to put on the server in addition to the new ones up already. I've seen that the new maps on the server have been getting a lot of playing time which tells me that this may be overdue. I have another list of new maps to submit for review when we get to that point.

I propose to appoint one member to be held responsible for this topic, with the following tasks, and with the support of all:

a) establish the maps which will be deleted...

b) propose new maps.

c) define the style of vote board...

The elected member should consider a team of about two more...

This task should be undertaken with the knowledge and support of Tommy, to avoid futile work...

Mr U, I couldn't agree more. How many versions of each map should we have? Since we are no longer involved over at FN I think ONE should be fine.

Also there are some maps that, because of the volume of players we see on a typical day, are just not camping maps anymore and lead to R&G as well as fighting over the limited number of good camping spots / secrets in that particular map. These should be tossed also.

As far as how this gets decided, I'm for group consesus. The reason being that if only a few people decide that someones favorite map is getting tossed there will be endless bitching and crying about it. We could set this up in a series of votes and those that don't bother to vote won't have a say but will also forfeit their right to complain.

The person and his team proposed, is to achieve consensus on working for the clan, not to decide on their own...

The idea is to work neatly and not in a brainstorming sessions in which nobody decides nothing, as in the past, because it is not the first time that we take this issue...

I'll volunteer to lead the allied coalition on the condition that Yo MaMa helps and sets up the posts for me (voting on maps, etc) and pushes upper management to make the actual changes on the server once a consensus is reached. Also on the condition that RMad and Natan help out as well to sort through which map versions to keep and delete - as well as search for new maps out there.

In any case, I think this is a worthwhile project. However this gets done, I'm ready to lead, follow, or get out of the way.

If everyone's OK with that, I'll start this weekend.

I'm behind your efforts 100% Mr U and will do what I can to help. I think this will not only make it more fun to play here again but will even generate some excitement with our members and guests.

I'll comment on your list. I think we want to be sure to not remove some of the popular maps or that will also drive people away.

Pizza Shop (multiple versions) -the ZSZ version needs to go, but we should keep the normal one as it is still a popular map

Bommies (multiple versions) -also popular, could be reduced to 1 version

Afterlife City (Regular and FN) -could go, I can't remember which it is so must not be that popular?

Derelict City (multiple versions) -could go, does get some play that I see still

Shrapnel Bay (Regular and FN) -needs to stay, but can be reduced to 1 version

Skullys Landing -there is another map with different name that is the same, so could remove this one

Skullys Basement -still popular depending who is on

Bowl (FBI and FBI FN) -could go

Brave New World (Regular and Version 2) could go, it's a neat huge map design but just not as well suited to camping as I would like

Kitchen (3 and PM and aka) DELETE ALL OF THESE IMO -can go

Infinity City - 5 different versions -keep the biggest version? popular map but often the smallest version gets picked when too many are on and becomes a run fest

I think there are still some others we could weed out as not good for camping, just have to go check and find them.

Honestly with the amount of people on our server at any one time Infinity City is a terrible camping map IMO. The double version is much larger but for some reason never seems to promote camping.

I think in aproaching this task as a whole when in doubt ditch it.
