This afternoon around 2PM my apartment was struck by lightning. It came in the roof on one end and came out the other end tearing everything up as it went. I was sitting here at the time and saw it. It was pretty intense, a very loud and massive explosion and the brightness was brilliant to say the least. I am completely amazed that nodody (myself included) was killed.
I will try not to be mellow-dramatic here, but I am in utter ruin. Ever single thing in this apartment that was plugged into the wall, whether on or not, has been damaged. There was a small fire in upstairs wall too but that ws quickly contained. Even my upright freezer out in the garage died. I will have to go outside tomorrow and throw out probably hundreds of dollars worth of food (mostly meat).
Getting to the hard part here, my main computer was damaged. The cable modem, router, 2 printers, and a flatbed scanner are all gone. The computer itself is still functioning but the ethernet port is burned out so the computer will no longer go online. I have an old surfboard 4100 modem that I am using to connect now, but it is connected to a 10 year old computer that will not do much.
I have renters insurance but they are giving me hell already and it looks like if I ever do collect anything it will be in court.
Still trying not to be mellow-dramatic here, the financial loss is massive. I do not see how I am going to be able to get the computer repaired in the foreseeable future. TBH, I don't know what I am going to do about anything. Obviously, I am not going to be able to play with Alpha. I will try to contact the other members to see what they want to do. As far as the 2v2 ladder, if someone else wants to manage it for season 2 then I will try to get you going with it, let me know.
I don't even know if the servers are up right now, I have to figure out a ssh solution. For right now, get ahold of DM if a game goes down. I will have to get someone else who is online later in the day trained up too. All I have at this very moment is web access, I don't have Ventrilo either.
I will post and let everybody know what is happening, but I have to be honest, things don't looks very good right now.

I have a job for whoever can do this...
There is no version of MSN for this old OS and FN.com uses too much Java, I can't connect to it with this 10 year old version of Explorer.
Someone needs to get a hold of Oma-Blade, WalkinBullseye, and Slacker for me and let them know my current situation.
I do not yet even have email set up on this machine so i have no way of contacting them.
I will be responding to all these message, but this box is slow and clumbsy and my first priority is to get a ssh solution going, working on that now.
