I played a few since two weeks and I totally agree with mAmA !

This is driving all the games to a boring run and gun fest with all the other kinds of behaviour you describe.

I sometimes play on 2K4 SAS server and there is no way to slide towards this kind of gaming because there is almost all the time one of the three or four admins watching the game (and only watching, not playing). They follow each player for a while and warn anyone who's trying to play without sticking to their rules.

There is also a great square picture that appears at the start of all maps saying "NO RUN AND GUN, NO SPAWNKILLING, NO HUNTING, NO FREESTYLE"

The admins kick (or ban : this depends of what the player did wrong) anyone that doesn't change his behaviour after three warnings. This works !!! Their server is pretty quiet and cool !

They even ban players with bad names if they don't change it. They ban players that use hard words.

They have put a "hall of shame" list on thier site.

Tommy, you could organise regular survey times with one of us, of you (reliable players of the clan), under the cop's cap !

I'm ok to do this inside my possible playing times (but my timezone isn't good to survey the best moments when the server is full house). Just pm us to say how and who will do this. I'm sure that you'll have volunteers to survey.

I think that we should of expected this to happen. When servers get more popular, more new players come in, no one reads the rules, they do what every they want.

I normally just go to another server when I get "sick or tired" of the people at our server.

I personally think a good way to solve the problem is for Tommy to let a few more people have admin power. I know when I'm on I hate being the bitch, but it's what I have to so in order to get people to listen and follow the rules.

We must follow and enforce our rules at our server and we must punish people who don't follow rules.

I also agree with MooN, people in our clan that have admin power should be able to spectate so we actually know what people are doing.

That's the big problem from my point of view we shouldn't have to disconnect from our own server because others are spoiling it for us...

Thats my point exactly, it's our clan, our server. Why should we have to go elsewhere to play ?

As has been said before, we just need to have an admin prescence enforce our rules. Actually, to get the proper coverage 3 or 4 of them.

I think the minute we make an example of the ones that refuse to listen, we will see the rest fall into line. I know for some of you it represents having to be the bad guy/ girl. IMO there are many out there that would see you as the good guy/ girl because they are hoping someone will do something to help them.

I know often when I'm on the sever and I'm ( of course) wearing my clan tag, players will talk to me and say " so and so spawn killed me " or " so and so assaulted me ". They are looking to us as clan members to protect them because they can't do anything themselves. They, like us, are being bullied on our server. I , for one, will not feel bad enforcing the rules, especially with the ones that you tell the same thing to 5 times and they just go on ignoring you.

I love having people to play against but not as a free-for-all R&G fest.

There are still a lot of good campers comming to the server, If we act soon this can be fixed.

I dont think we should leave our server because of a few people it might be we could but the names on the forum the ones that will not do as we say and if others have trouble with them them kick them for a few weeks

and just go from there we do have a lot of good people that come and do right 🙄

Can you fill me in on some terms here?

Spawn kill?

Swirly kill?

Elevator camping?

Hunting?

Revenged?

I think I have an idea on all of these, but I would like to know for sure before I spout off. I have a feeling I have been guilty of some of these.

If so change will come to my playing "style" such that it is.

Spawn killing, basically there are two forms. The first is when you spawn in an occupied area and wait there till you pop and ace the guy that was there first. In this case you should leave the area. The second is being the guy that is there first and shooting the spawner in the back as he leaves. Not letting him leave safely. You can watch where he goes and pop him as soon as he sticks his head out, but you give him the chance to get to cover.

Swirly kill is when you camp a tele swirly waiting for people to pop in and ace them or sit in the swirly causing them to get tele fragged. People may correct me on this but I have never considered watching a swirly from across a map wrong. To me it was always sitting right there.

Elevator camping is camping at the top of an elevator and aceing everyone that uses it. This again in my opinion is a matter of distance. Knowing where an ele comes out and keeping an eye on it from across the map is ok to me.

I think in the last two cases across the map is O.K. cause you never really just sit with your sites on the point, you are looking other places too and just keeping an eye on them.

Hunting. I personally feel that hunting is part of sniping. To stealthfully move in a map to gain position to kill someone, seems part of the game. Having said that teleing or bumrushng (assault, charging) to someones location to get the kill is what I think some are calling hunting is a big no-no.

Revenge killing is when you get killed and the next thing you do is go out of your way to come back and kill the guy who just killed you. Again a clean shot from across the map is a good kill in my opinion.

About spawn killing, I'm ok with the first case you said. I fact, it's too much easy to be fooling around someone and shoot him as soon as you hear the sound of the end of spawn protection. (if your ping allows this ! 🙁 )

The second case od spawn killing (the opposit way) is not a fault if the one that spawns isn't smart enough to really find a safe place away from his spawnin point. But this could be discussed a lot ! 😉

My opinion is that hunting can't be done in a sniping and camping. I think a camping server is a server in which you use your spawning protection to go to a safe place and then, you're not supposed to move all around. Even crouching ! So how could you go and hunt someone ?... And when you spawn in the same place where you've been killed, you have to leave away !!!

Swirly kill and elevator camping, transport room camping are just a very cheap ways to behave. It depends of player's pride. Question : is winnig a frag without any skill or glory really interesting to get fun or to improve ?... This is a big question !

Only some of my opinions... 😉

PS some servers remove any map with sercrets... another big question, I think...
