Fine with me, I dont post there much anyway.

I moved this to the DOU General area since I thought this would be better discussed in private.

I agree that we should not go to the other boards and spam messages telling everyone else not to play there any more, and instead play on our server. That would just be selfish.

But, on the other hand, I don't see that we should be timid about inviting other people to play on our server too.

We did put the server up in the hopes that it will bring players to it (what other reason is there?). If you buy a fancy new sports car, you don't leave it in the garage because you are afraid of offending the neighbors, instead you take them for a ride in it.

Further opinions?

I don't need to post anything on CG about our server. It'll get there by word of mouth sooner or later anyway.

What I am worried about is being too much like CG's.

That's another reason to have some things set up differently (like the lack of the small "loop of poop" matches) to set DOU's server apart from CG's or Kidcapri's.

Starting off with the CG map pack is a great start but I think there should eventually be a bunch map changes to set us apart so we aren't looked upon as being a "CG clone".

Maybe there are some mods out there we could use for deemers? I remember there being some discussion about it before on the Redeemer Insanity boards.

There are different game and physics settings I can play with. Plus there are just tons of mutators out there. We can experiment a lot if you guys want. We are already set apart from the other servers by being a hosted dedicated server. The others are listen servers. I think this has to do with how the ArenaMatch mutator works. It took a bit of digging for me to figure out how to set and use the mutator without the ability to bring up the in game mutator menu to make the settings. I bet the majority of people who use the mutator haven't figured it out (and it's a flaw of the mutator author).

Not a problem there, but we do need to start somewhere. As soon as the maps are up (today) everyone can just let me know which maps stay, and which maps go. Then we will add to the list until we have a good and original rotation. I would personally like to see some larger maps.

Yup, read above. I'll post some links to mutator sites and let you guys look around and see what we could possibly do.

"Loop of poop" is an expression about the way that sometimes you're caught into an endlees loop !!! 😀

This is very irritating but it's the price to play sometimes to have a great interrest in this game !!!

About interest, it is a really good part of practice to learn where you must not stay, even a glimpse, not to be caught ! 😉

I understand what you mean Xerxes but when you're getting better and better, all that you don't enjoy today becomes a great pleasure to go through easily ! IT IS THE REWARD !

About the way people will come to our server, I do believe in word of mouth. It's surely the best way but I'm glad all of you didn't even think to post on CG forum !!.. As you said Tommy, it would be really hardly selfish !!! But I agree we have to get more and more players !

I said "a deemer one" almost without thinking it should be done today !!! (and you scared me with the first files I sent to you that were'nt enough)

The Loop of Poop isn't a match. It's a phenomenon within a match, usually a smaller map where you repeatedly spawn into 'deemer detonations. That really bites! Bison knows the feeling very well. 😆
