Never took the time to learn that skill.

These were all taken with hook and worm. It was my boys first time after trout and since they have limited experience to begin with (also very little patience!) I thought it best to just keep it as simple as possible. I got my 5 fish and I helped them get their 10. My 7 year old out-fished his older brother 7 to 3.

Never caught a pike before. How do they compare with fighting a walleye?

Walleye don't fight very hard at all IMO. Northern Pike Slam the lure and put up a very good fight. My best are 24, 27 and 36 inches. Every one was a good fight.

Here's some cool footage:

Word of warning if you ever catch one do not put your hand near the mouth or your gaming will suffer, well pushing keys etc without fingers can be hard lmao ....

Yup, they some toothy critters 😀 I have a 46 inch musky on my wall 😈

oh, and if the eye has any size, they do put up some resistance. The head shake is what I like to feel when they are coming in.
