This is a proposal to change the "Assault Rule" into a "No Close Kills Rule".
I had originally thought to add No Close Kills as a separate rule but by doing so it would make the Assault rule redundant IMO.
Proposal details:
Rule #4 in it's current form:
4) No Assaulting - Do not rush another players position to shoot them, kill from a distance. Sometimes you will enter an occupied room accidently and have to fight for your life, we understand this. If you do it over and over, you are assaulting and will be dealt with.
Proposed change:
4) No Close Kills - Do not shoot someone in any close encounter. No exceptions. Kill from a distance only.
This will also void the redeemer exception.
I've made this a 14 day poll in case there's alot of discussion.
The no close kill mod will get rid of both the assault and close kill rule in one. The experience on the Extreme camping ladder shows it works just fine. It will save the admins a lot of work and warnings. There will be no need to spectate for it no more and it will also get rid of the close revenge.
If we install the mod there is no need for a rule #4 anymore.
There for I didn’t vote for a change…

I agree the mod would be ideal but to date Tommy has never installed any mods that have been asked for.
And if Tommy doesn't install the mod where does it leave us?
Let me put it to you like this:
As the rules now stand if somebody yells at someone for a non-assault close kill that constitutes harrassment.
So if you vote no or decline to vote things will remain as they are until a non-close-kills mod is added.

Good point.

Me too.... 😀
The only prob I would see is on a smaller map with a lot of players.
Other than that, Im all for it! 😀
LOl - still looking for an act of Tommy - when we really need an act of GOD. I voted yes - but aint holding my breath.
This would be useless on the small maps. The whole map list needs to be gone over again. I didn't vote because it probably wont matter anyways. Who is going to check the distance on their crosshairs b4 they fire? How close is too close? Spitting distance? Why don't eggs taste like chicken?
I voted no even though I want yes. The reason why is there is no way to enforce this rule. How close is close, how far is far? It will be an on going argument till the end of time.
The only way to resolve this is to have the no close kill mod installed.

It's never to far... 🙂
😯 are we talking inches or millimeters ,,?? how close is close ?

I voted yes to change the rule. I like to see the respect I get from players when they enter the area I'm in then leave. I think this rule change will promote this type of behavior. I think we need more admins, I for one would step up to the plate. People tell me to kick a certain person and I cant. Alot of people complain that theres not enough policing on the server. I don't want to see the server over modded.
