Every player that goes into the recruiting process will be judge on his own. So we will take everyone that wants to be a recruit as a separate case. We do this all the time, so no problems there... I don't look at gameplay or behaviour only. I will look further than that and the name a recruit is gonna use as being a part of the DOU family I will take along within that process. I will never overlook the name for the benefit of having a great player.

Are we in favor of nuking Iran? If not than we shouldn't put a DOU tag in front of it !

1. I believe that the choice is clear here. Look at the controversy this has caused within our community and decide for yourself if this would be good for our clan.

The name NukeIran is the same thing as the name MurderMexicans, ButcherBritish, or KillChileans. Would you ask someone with those names to join?

"IHateEvery1" does not imply a pejudice or a political policy toward a race or nation so there would be no issue there as far as I am concerned.

Where would it stop? It stops where DOU rules dictates it does. I could care less if the guy wants Iran nuked. That's his opinion and he's entitled to it. But if he wants to be part of DOU that opinion needs to be checked at the door.

He's still entitled to use that nick as a guest on the servers. But if it becomes a source of disruption for gameplay then he'd be asked to change it.

I'll be informing him of DOU's policy and why we have it in the next hour. If he really wants to join he'll bend.

Oh I definately agree,the name is offensive to some and that shouldn't be tolerated.But,I was just saying,if we make one person "change" something about themselves, to be a part of our clan,then, would we really want them as part of "US" anyway?

Seems to me if someone has to change their name,(or part of their name),it wouldnt really seem complete.

It does prove people take offense to the guys name. But also Scay takes offense to every thing.

Also he has come on before and talked politics and when people didn't agree with him he got all mad.

Yes, as I recall he was so upset about some remarks you made about Obama in game he pm'd me with a screen shot and later met me in Yahoo to chat. He said he thought you were being racist, I told him not liking someones politics doesn't make you racist.

Also, I was talking to Underhill about this the other day, how there are people who are looking for something to be upset about, and how this guys name could draw them to us like a magnet.

I rest my case.

In an effort to get to know this guy a little better versus assuming, I asked Nuker to call me to see if his positions would be in conflict with our rules as discussed in the posts prior to this one.

I have found that he is absolutley not interested in bringing his politics into the game nor the clan. From what he's told me, he sees UT pretty much the same way I do in that it's more or less an escape from real life and a chance to just frag a few people and have some fun.

He's asked me to float the name "Nuker" out there to DOU as a replacement to his other name (and to the name he told Cygnus which I cant remember) to see if anyone would have a problem with that. From a 45 minute conversation, it's my first impression that he's a pretty easy going guy that's not looking to upset the applecart and just have some fun on the server.

He's also mentioned that he has had zero problem with any of the DOU members he's played against and that's why he's around a lot. He also commented that recently someone came in as NukeUSA trying to provoke him into some kind of arguement. He said that he just shook his head and didnt say a word. If that's true (per Abb's post), I think that it's proof positive that his intention is verified and that he wants to leave politics at the door.

I've encouraged him to get on vent so more people can get to know him a little better. He doesnt have a mic so it may be a little while if and when he gets on.

As far as ZSZ Scay (if it really is him) someone needs to say something to him for stirring the pot on our server like that - that's BS.

That being said...

Does anyone here have a problem with the name "Nuker" ?

BTW, I find it more than a little suspicious that Scay (or any other guest) should suddenly take issue with Nuke's name while this discussion has been going on.

NOBODY has any business whatsoever discussing clan business with outsiders. If someone is doing this they can be kicked out of DOU.
