Oddly enough it has really picked up once I mentioned it

It was bad before, but after mentioning the other day in that thread here how it started after the IP was posted on the ZSZ forum, it has gotten far worse. Every day is like this, and when we are not home it's shut off, so this is only part of the day. Also, now abberation's computer is completely fucked. Something hit it when he was looking at ESPN the other day, it did the popup that claims to be scanning the computer and won't go away. We tried a bunch of different things that should have removed it and it seemed ok for a day and then it came back and now his computer won't do anything. Just goes blank when you try for normal or hit the F8 to show safe mode, nothing shows. It will go into the windows recovery console, so the HD is still working. I suppose that windows is screwed. Have it running chkdsk /r right now but don't really expect that to help. Since I bought these computers from a guy on EBAY last year they had XP pro SP3 pre installed, so I have no CD of it, nor the key. My old XP pro cd wasn't even SP2. Arg I have a headache.

Seriously, now every day is like this, from the day after ZSZ was mentioned in that thread here. So either we sent a bunch of traffic from here to there that was bots looking for IPs or it is intentional. Before that thread here, it was maybe 20 a day, which sucked, but now it is way worse. Possibly SS and mimetic having fun? This is why I posted it here in our members section first, I didn't want to give them ideas and wanted to mention how it picked up since the thread referencing the ZSZ forum and didn't want to get harassed for that.

Don't go to their forum or server, that's how they would get your I.P. I don't know that it was them that are causing you problems, but it wouldn't surprise me.

Try unplugging your modem for a few minutes and get a new I.P.

I recently had the same problem on my work computer. Got all the scan and found stuff msgs ...etc... I was never at their site. It happened while just browsing, the first thing it did was uninstall my Norton then crashed my system. It took a comp guy 3 days to clean out all the bad files it loaded, and $150. He said each file had to be removed one at a time. Unless i wished to reformat the drive, which i could not do. Sounds like you are in the same position. Find a good comp guy they can get it off

Doesn't work that way, static IP. Haven't been there for years, but still have the same IP from that night you all went on and abberation is on my IP. Not saying it was them causing the problems, unless scay learned more from mimetic than he knew before, but that DOU website has much more traffic therefore more traffic followed that link back that was posted back to their site. Sending traffic their way offends me no matter if it is people or crawler bots looking for shit.

Rad wrote: Physically destroyed or operating system only? ❓

Hard drive works in recovery/DOS mode so just the operating system is badly screwed up. I may try sticking it in my computer and copying all my stuff over his. If I had a XP pro SP3 cd and a multi key I would maybe just try reinstall but my cd is old and it's not the same key as I had before.

Probably but it was odd that it came up when he was only on ESPN. It could have loaded itself in the background though.

Sup Yall,

Long time no see.

Turn off System Restore ( http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310405 ).

Then you want to check out a few different things. Number one is you want to get Malware Bytes at http://www.malwarebytes.org/ . Install it. Update it. Perform a FULL scan. (Relax and get comfy. This will take a long time) Do everything it says. Reboot. Do it again.

Also get and run the Norton Power Eraser ( http://security.symantec.com/nbrt/overview.asp?lcid=1033 ). Bootable recovery tool if your system is really hosed. Another freebie.

Try either HouseCall ( http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ ) or Security Scan ( http://security.symantec.com/sscv6/WelcomePage.asp ) for a one time scan and clean up. Maybe run both.

You are looking at a full days worth of work to get cleaned up. At least.

Make sure you have a Anti Virus and Anti Malware tool. For a freebie the Microsoft Security Essentials ( http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/ ) is really quite good. The latest stuff from Norton (hold the groans) is really good and even has a gaming mode. This is the 2011 version.

A firewall is also important. See this article ( http://www.techsupportalert.com/best-free-firewall.htm ).

Let me know how it goes. Might try to set up a remote session.

P.S. Tommy or Mama can you flag or pin this article and I can keep it up to date. This has come up before and it will come up again.

You could use comodo firewall and avast for anti virus both free and work pretty well, avast now has a better interface and gaming mode. Dont think you can do better then malwarbytes for malware other then that use spyware blaster to help keep out the bad stuff as your surfing....

http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download

http://www.comodo.com/products/free-products.php

http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html
