As many of you may have noticed, 4 of our 6 servers are down. First, a break down of the servers and who takes care of them business-wise:
Sniper Server (Tommy)
Multi Server (Tommy)
Practice Server (Tommy)
Bolt Action Server (Draco)
FN 1v1 Uzi Server (Draco)
Instagib Server (Diminished)
Draco's 2 servers are still up, the rest are down and/or out.
Here is what happened. Our good friend Turkey decided to fuck with the servers, and as a result, the ones he has fucked with already will no longer run UT99. He doesn't seem to care about this. The servers that I and Dim take care of were affected. I have been patiently and politely talking with Turkey since last weekend about this. The end result of talking with him tonight is that not only will he not move our games to a server that does work, but he wanted to move Draco's servers to the machine that doesn't work. How does that make sense?
Here is the current state of things with our servers and Turkey. The 3 servers I deal with just will not work and he is unwilling to help with the situation. Add to that the fact that our monthly payment is due in about an hour or so from now and it will not come as a surprise to you that I have canceled the servers and froze our funds so that he may not get any more money for those 3 servers. Dim's server does not work either and I suspect will never again work while associated with Turkey. Draco is getting a hold of him to let him know he should cancel his server as well. That leaves us with Draco's 2 servers. For the time being, his servers do in fact work properly. However, Turkey has stated that he intends to change those servers as well, and they will most likely no longer work when that happens too. He plans to change the servers very soon (week or 2). When that happens Draco will be canceling those servers as well.
Turkey has fucked us several times in the past, so it comes as no surprise that he is doing so one last time.
Where does this leave us? First, we looked around and found that we could not find another game service provider cheap enough to allow us to maintain 6 servers - not even half of that. So we were pretty much boned there.
Then I got some info from a friend who is extremely sharp with computers and networking about getting a server of our own. I then priced out some servers. It looks like we will be able to get our own server and we are figuring this out now. There are still issues of money. We have funds still left in the dou coffers, and a few people have pledged support. I don't want this post to be all about the money, that is something we will deal with as we need to.
I have found a reasonably priced server that should be able to host all 6 game servers we currently run, and probably team speak too. If not we can upgrade it to the next tier for a small fee and that would for sure do it.
This is what we are planning to do now. By the way, anybody who wants to be part of the planning process just needs to come to TS and say Hi.
I am going to try my best to make this a reality. Be aware that there will also be a learning curve involved. I will have help from some very gifted people so if I get the server, it will go up.
Like I said before, Turkey fucked us one last time, but what he doesn't seem to realize is that nothing will ever be able to tear this clan apart. We are here for the long haul. As an added bonus, we will never have to deal with this asshole again. He will soon be a distant bad memory that time has dulled.
I will be posting more very soon. I do understand that everybody is eager for the games to go back up. I will do my best to be as quick as I can but it may take a bit of time.

A little update: latest news from dumb-ass poultry connection is all UT series servers will be deleted on the 15th. I hate that fuckin' Prick :ahole: Well, we should only be without for a short while. Now is a great opportunity to go hit everyone else' servers and see if we can't steal, I mean discover new ideas for our servers. OMA has graciously offered their public servers to us to play on in the meantime. Have a good one.

BTW, if anyone has a chance to hit the DANISH freestyle server, you should check it out. The ping may be 200 for us Americans but I was still able to whip some ass. Sorry for the language, Turkey-Boinker really has me in a mood today.

Completly reinstalled server twice now, still not working. Server stays up for a couple of minutes then goes down.
I have started from scratch with completly new configs three times now, and honestly this is going to be the final straw. Unless you guys figure out what's going on, I'll be asking for a refund.

It looks like Turkey killed the last server this morning. What a fuck this guy is, no?
I am looking over the service agreement from the new company that will be providing us with a dedicated server. I want to read it fuully (it's like 10 pages long) since it will be my card this is going on. I don't want to miss something and then have my credit history haunting me for the next 7 - 10 years. I will then fax it in tomorrow morning. As soon as they get the fax(s) (there are 2 things I have to send, the signed agreement and payment info) we will have the server. The guy I have been talking to seems so far to be pretty decent so I am cautiously optimistic about all of this.

Yeah, this means they are already setting it up for us. Therefore we should be without games for only a few days. Remember that I have to set the bitch up, these boxes are 100% user managed. And I have absolutely no skill in this area. Seriously, I haven't a clue as to the first thing to do - I will log in and then my skill set will be exhausted. Fortunately I have some good friends (__J and Snake) that are not only willing but eager to help me out. And these guys are fucking sharp with this shit. So we should have something going very quickly. We just need to try and be patient.

Yep, the servers are cooked. I just cancelled them. The 16 man will be gone tomorrow. I have the 8 man through the 12th of next month. Alot of good it does me, huh? I'm looking forward to the new and improved situation that is ahead. I'll talk to you after work. Have a good one.

Whatever you could think about Jarg and after reading the whole prob there was between them two, I always thought that Turkey was not a guy to deal with. Even if it was comfortable !

SLAM!!! Just kidding. There won't be any more problems with Turkey ever again. He is completely out of the DOU loop. The reason why we are going the route we are taking is that it really is the cheapest option. Turkey charged a dollar a player slot. If you search around the internet, you'll find the cheapest averaging between $20-40 USD for a 10 slot public server. I have used the $20 dollar option and it really wasn't that good. 10 slots is not real reasonable considering there were times we had 12-15 players on the combo server alone. In the last month, traffic to DOU servers was really starting to grow. Before the Bolt-action shutdown this morning, we were getting dozens of visitors a day and constantly mantaining anywhere from 5-12 players during peak hours.

The simple answer would be that Turkey shouldn't even be running a business because he is too impulsive and willing to jump on the newest and best thing only to find out it was the wrong decision. He had his mind set on doing away with UnrealTournament and he did. In his mind it is a dying game when the fact 2000+ servers still operate tells a different story.

I thought of that. Do you think clans would by into a server that included a custom rifle and a few other things included? A real tech support and not some guy asking over and over again, "Would you like a fresh Install?". I wish I had the bread to do what turkey is doing but I don't. Have a good one.
