When our servers are off or with nobody in, I happened to go on 3 or 4 other servers where I saw {DOU}Omegaman, {DOU}Toons, {DOU}Plumber !... That's funny to be together in other houses with our DOU tag !

We have a problem. Yahoo is not allowing any file names that contain the [ and ] characters (and all the other similar characters).

This is a serious problem since as you all know about half of all ut files have these characters.

I'm still looking for a solution but this doesn't look promising. Kinda sucks, I have no idea why Yahoo is doing this as there is absolutely no good reason for disallowing the characters.

Yup, it looks like we are screwed. No fault of Bison, the blame is 100% on Yahoo.

My friend _J (those of you who come to IRC or TeamSpeak may have seen him around) actually has a box that I never knew about sitting in a cage at a datacenter. It has plenty of disk space and unlimited bandwidth. Even so we are to try to keep the load low, but I don't suspect this will be a problem.

For some reason Yahoo is not allowing file names that have characters such as [,],{,},<,>, etc. Like 1/2 to 2/3 of all UT99 files have these characters however. So unfortunately we were unable to use Bisons space. Mondo kudos still go out to Bison for his offer, this was in no way his fault and it is still hugely appreciated.

Lucky for us that _J is a networking engineer and my "go to" guy for when I have these types of problems. After determining that it was not a bug and in fact a Yahoo policy against the file names, _J offered us the space and bandwidth.

I have completed the redeemer server and as far as I can tell (with my limited look) it should be good to go.

I am now going to start the sniper server and will hopefully have it completed by sometime Friday, I suspect the evening. I will not announce it to the general public until it is completed but I will turn it on now.

About the practice server. The overwhelming majority of it's files are the same as the sniper server with just a few exceptions. To save space (don't want to over-extend my welcome on _J's server) I will point it's redirection to the same directory as the sniper server. If there are any files on the practice server not in the sniper server redirect, you will just have to suck it up and eat the slow download. Use the cache cleaner so it will be a 1 time thing.

I am going to add to the end of the server names a note stating that we have new redirection. Along with all of us getting the word out, I hope this will help us to re-build our server traffic. Since we are now the only redeemer server out there, I suspect that this server will pick right up. The sniper server may take a little more time but I feel confident that it will pick up. Remember to put some time in on the server, people do not go to un-populated servers. If they see someone there then they will join. So snipe bots for a map or 2 until someone sees you and joins in on the fun.

I got a little bit behind but I am making progress with the sniper server now. It will be done Today at some point. The redeemer server is 100% done too. I'll set the practice server to access the redirect when I am done.
