The 1st picture is the kid I'm big brother to. He's holding up the prizes he chose after taking taking first place in the youth rifle and youth spear competitions. It was his first attempt at the youth rifle match.

Earlier, he was practicing for the tomahawk throw in the woods behind our campsite. He threw at a stump next to a large clumb of bushes and his 1st throw bounced off of the stump and into those afore mentioned bushes. Suddenly there was a loud crashing as a tom turkey took flight and it sounded like it was hitting every branch in the woods while trying to escape. It scared the crap out of my little bro too. he didn't want to go back there and practice. Now, Ive taken this kid deer hunting for 2 years now and he's afraid of a turkey? Man, did I rub it in...lol.

The second picture has one of the Fort Old Abe Muzzle Loaders (FOAML) readying his cannon for firing. Yes, you can own your very own black powder cannon. No permits required. At least not in Wisconsin.

The one pictured here fires a 1-1/2 inch lead projectile. The powder charge is 1 ounce of black powder. This is one of the smaller cannons I've seen. By comparison, one of my brothers has a 1/2 scale Napoleon cannon. It fires Coors Silver Bullet beer cans filled with cement. The powder charge is around a quarter pound.

As for the gent who is tinkering with this mini-artillery field piece....yes, he has no pants. He's wearing something akin to a loin cloth. It's an indian fashion but I can't remember what it's called.

If you look in the foreground, you'll notice our rifles leaning up in the rack.

The third picutre was taken during the camp meeting. That's the gathering where the door prizes, raffles and competition prizes are handed out. It's always followed by lots of bullshitting and booze.

The young woman sitting in the foreground did very well in the shooting competitions. I watched her take second in the candelight shoot. That's where you have to shoot the flame out on a candle without actually hitting the candle. Pretty neat.

This rendezvous wasn't open to the general public but many are. If you every have the opprotunity to check one out, by all means do so. It's always fun.
