In regard to a lot of talk recently about sporadic traffic on ours and other UT99 servers, here are some quick thoughts.
It has been said that people like our server more but wait for traffic before joining. Well, I think it is time to give them something to not wait for.
What I mean is that it is time to consolidate the UT99 community. What I suggest is that we look for clans and groups that have only a few active members left and try to get them to join our clan en-mass.
This would benefit us by swelling our numbers with people who are actually interested in community, and it would benefit them in the same way while also offering them things like a larger pool of players and resources. This way we could hold tournaments again. Maybe even get the DOU vs, DOU started again.
I have suggested this before but little happened. I think that if we actually make an effort here, we can make something of this. Also, I think people will be more receptive to this if they know their fellow old clan members can come in with them.
We don't have to just do this, but this is a good start.
So, again, let's start a recruitment drive with the goal of consolidating the entire UT99 community. Of course not everyone, but we can make the attempt.
I have more to add to this but will do so after a good nights sleep.
In the mean time...first things first. We need a list of clans that still have some active members left. Post them below.

Also, our 15 year anniversary is coming up at the end of October. We need to be ready for this. It is on a Sunday too so we can at least hope for a better turnout.

Usually Monday nights are not active (as well as Sunday). It seems like people are getting back to work, getting settled in, and then they start showing up later in the week. However, tonight there are six on DOU, ten on HoF, and five on SoP. Any idea what drives that? When the other servers start loading up they'll come over to us and often with the comment that the other servers are getting too uncivilized.
It does seem that on HoF it's mostly people that don't visit DOU at all, or often people we don't want coming around.
But yes, we do need to create a list of UT websites like we did in the old days.
We need to know who is out there. Then I can create a FMP database for it and hopefully gain lots of useful (to us) information.

I had a little longer break in my activity on UT99 servers. My old computer has died, but it belongs to the past. I assembled a new one.
I came back, I am and I am trying to revive the traffic on the server. I noticed that the presence of 2-3 players on the server is enough to attract others. It would be useful on the server though one new good map, I mean one that will have success comparable with Bistro, Savage & Son, Somnambulist etc.
This is easy. Just tell me what to remove and what to add.
I can add just some new maps and see what people think, but tell me what to remove.

If there's a way to up the bot activity on the maps where they aren't aggressive, I think that would go a long way to help. On a few they chase you down and make you work for it, but on others you have to run all over just to find something to shoot. With traffic as slow as it is, I think if people that come on one or two at a time were more challenged, they'd be more inclined to stay and shoot it out. Also, if you watch the maps that our members choose to play solo, they are almost always the ones with active bots: Beachhead, etc.
I think every map is good to meet old good friends.
