First post I read since two days but the nicest since a loooooong time... in all forums I went !!!
Nice to know you're safe and free Tommy. π
I know I keep promising to leave, sorry about persisting. π
Well guys, I have an update and it is not a very good one. All things considered, this was the hardest day for me thus far since this ordeal started.
First, getting even accepted into a homeless shelter looks like it will be very difficult, if possible at all. So there was the fear all day of my being outdoors tomorrow. But again, that has been postponed.
I saw my father today when he brought me my social security card. We talked but it was not a very good conversation. He pretty much told me that it didn't have to be this way and laid the bulk of the blame on it. Then he turned to walk away and said "Well, good luck." Then he said "Call me if you need anything" but I doubt he meant it and just felt the need to say something as he walked away.
Then I learned from my sister that Barkley wasn't doing well and that he was put down. He is gone. It was about all I could do to keep myself together. I loved that dog very much and will miss him more than I can express. I have no proof of it, but I suspect he was neglicted and went down hill as a result of that. Also, I am sure my absence had something to do with it, we were close.
I am not in a very good place right now. I am fining it very difficult to think things through. But please don't worry about me, I am strong and I will eventually emerge from this even stronger.

Tough to lose a friend. I have 4 dogs and I know exactly how you feel right now.
I lost a Lab that was my best friend. No matter how their day goes they always greet you with
a tail wag and a smile.
Moment of silence for Barkley

Can't get blood from a turnip, or whatever type of vegetable she qualifies as. You can spend a lot of time and money getting a judgement against someone but unless they have some assets there's no payday, some satisfaction maybe but no payday.
