Well....things might change soon 🙂

I can't give the specifics of how this will happen but...

Very soon I may be upgrading my computer situation in a huge way. Not only will there be no more laggy map situations with UT99, but I will be able to run UT99, Doom 3, and probably Quake 4 as smooth as butter. We are talking about an ATI Radeon x800 with 256 megs of ram inside a dual processor G5.

If this happens, it will probably be a few weeks yet, but even thinking about it has me pretty excited 🙂

This is what I have now:

Thus the excitement of no longer having it.

I wish I knew what some of that computer jabber was about. Whatever it is, I'm sure it's powerful. Best of Luck!

Are you getting this new? I can not seem to configure a G5 with a X800. Or are you getting it at the Apple store in Charlotte?

Oh, and also, would it be better to wait for the Intel processors to hit the G5 line? They will be faster than the IBMs currently residing in the G5.

Just wondering.

I'm getting it "almost" new. Someone (nobody anyone here knows) is giving it to me. It's about 3 months old or so I would guess. And yeah, I looked and couldn't option it in the apple store online either. It most likely means they are out of stock. The graphics card choices online over there change all the time for that reason.

The machine has (2) 2 ghz G5 processors, a 160gig HD, superdrive (dvd-r, dvd-rw, and cd-rw), 4 gigs of ram, and the ATI Radeon x800 XT graphics card (with 256 megs of onboard ram).

So the machine should perform EXTREMELY well.

The modern games will take advantage of the dual processors too so that will be a huge boost. I'm not sure about UT2004, but pretty sure Doom3 and Quake4 do. If so then I would assume that Enemy Territory: Quake Wars will too when it comes out this summer.

Here is a picture for your viewing pleasure 🙂

Now I do have a problem. I have a desk that has one of those compartments for a tower computer, and even a spiffy door to close it off. I don't have a tower right now but rather an all-in-one mac sitting on the desktop. Therefore I have 2 glasses and a bottle of Stoli's vodka stored in tower area for medical purposes (my sanity). So where will I put the bottle now? Hmmmm.....

Tommy... Just whose dog have you been walking???

Seriously, that is just INCREDIBLE! You mean that they are GIVING it to you? No strings attached?

I mean, this thing is a MONSTER! You should be good to go for a few years.

BTW, These are among the best looking PCs out there, but that case is HUGE. Will it fit in your liquor cabinet, aka computer compartment?

Yeah, the picture is a bit misleading, the machine is normal sized.

As for the rest, yes giving, as in no $$$. The person isn't going to use the machine and figured that rather then haggle the machine on ebay or whatever, he'd give it to me knowing that I need a new box but can't buy one right now. This is what one would call "a good friend." 🙂 Plus then I will have no excuse not to play 🙂 And seriously, who would appreciate it more than me, lol.

I say put it right up there next to the monitor. Now you will not have to open a door to get to it. While your at it ace the glasses too.
