You know guys, one thing I do believe in : we are a group, a gang, a house, a comunity... whatever the name we can use, we are an association and since we are that we have two choices.

1 - the majority leads the final vote. The opponents have to live with that.

2 - one of us against the yes vote (with some good reason) is enough to be a final answer, considering we can't force one of the cool members inside of that group to admit that a recruit had not to join the group.

I have no special thoughts but as far as one or two of us really don't want Duke to be one of us I support their choice.

I just sent him a PM. In it I very briefly addressed Duke and also the incident that occured on the Quake 2 server. I do understand where he is coming from, Duke really fscked with his clan harshly in the past, and there are some really bitter feelings between the two of them. Of course I still needed to say something. So I opted for the "kid-glove" approach. I an reasonably certain that this will take care of aaagghhh's end of this. As a side note, he did take this a bit far. Aaagghhh is not a member of DOU, it was not his place to have issues with someone wanting to join us. It really isn't any of his business. As such I am going to very quickly with one or two sentences blow off the open complaint that he posted.

So everybody knows, here is what I sent to aaagghhh:

I neglicted to mention anything about Duke to the rest of the clan about his being "wild" sometimes.

Toons didn't know any better (again, my fault) and when Duke asked him to join he agreed to be his sponsor.

At that point, in all fairness, he was given the opportunity to prove himself to the clan. Remember, his problem at that point was between you and him, it had nothing to do with DOU.

Well, he was given the opportunity and he blew it. I won't go into details but suffice it to say that he will not be joining Clan DOU.

Please understand that I also have very little to do with the recruitment process for our clan. {DOU}Xerxes and {DOU}Chicken are our recruitment officers and they do an excellet job taking care of potiental new members. If at all possible I try to stay out of it completely (easier said than done) and don't even really want to sponsor people myself anymore. I only sponsored Bama because nobody else knew him at the time.

Also, I was made aware of the incident between you and Duke on the LOX server. I read the logs and quickly came to the conclusion that it got way out of hand. Both of you were wrong in how that was handled. I understand that there are a lot of bitter feelings between you two (and rightly so) but arguing the way you two did publically on the DOU server was completely unacceptable. There were other people playing on the server at the time too so that made it worse. I do understand that at times people will get caught up in the heat of the moment and not think before taking action, but I need to ask that in the future you refrain from argueing with him on the server. If you have a problem with him let us know and we will deal with it in a more appropriate way.

I do understand and respect your feelings in this matter. Just give us a little time and it will all be sorted out in a way that I think will make everyone happy 🙂

This is the latest message that I sent to Xerxes since he is the one dealing with this.

sums it up. I thought about this a bit more and think it may not actually be hear-say. Duke knew that GZ was a member of DOU, and did not tell him that he could not repeat what he said to him. That might not matter anyway since GZ in this respect is an agent of DOU, thus there would be no assumed confidentially. So if he said he wants nothing more to do with DOU, then we can roll with that. Hell, consider it a withdrawl of his membership request.

A clever way of playing with this I know. Or as John Valby used to say "intellectual bullshit."

But we do need to end this, and it must end with him parting from the recruitment process. Fuck, i'd quit DOU if he got in, hahahaha. Zero people are going to give him a yes vote, not even Toons would. If that doesn't fly, you can still also address the apology issue. Yes, he is arguing the issue, but thats not what we told him he needed to do. We said apologize or hit the road. He did not apologize. Aka, we weren't asking if he "would please do so," it was a requirement, one which he didn't fulfill.

If you want to elaborate (if you feel it's necessary), just tell him he is still free to play on the servers and that he may re-apply for membership in 6 months if he wishes to do so (as per our rules). Unlikely, but you never can know, he could pull it around and be DOU material 1/2 a year from now.

I am going to post this in the Duke thread so everyone else can see whats up.

Time to kill this issue. Here's what I sent Duke:

"Hello Duke,

You were given a chance to handle this situation like an adult and you chose not to. Your lack of maturity and your tendancy to back-stab people in a clan you applied for membership in clearly shows you would not be a positive member for DOU.

When our clan members have disagreements, we do not get in a chat room and refer to them as "fags" like you have done. We try to resolve the disagreement with them like responsible adults.

This latest comment made by you has convinced me that it would be useless to continue your recruitment since I doubt very much that anyone would cast a vote to bring you in to the clan.

You may re-apply for membership in 6 months if you feel you can behave enough like an adult to get along with everyone.

Was on the server playing last night with GZ, Toons, Laci, and stoopid. Something caught my eye, so I checked the logs. Stoopid and Duke are one in the same. So I guess we are going to be playing that game now.

Ok, so I'm really late with this but I was wondering why I had'nt seen Duke on the server last couple of weeks. Did he get banned? I never had any problems with him personally, but I've read everything before this and find it disturbing. While I agree with moon that it looked like AAAGGHH lured Duke into that verbal sparring match by accusing him of being a cheat I also agree with Charger that the clan server is not the place for that type of thing. Its not fair to other players who are there enjoying( or trying to enjoy) their game. Since many of us come from not only different parts of the country but different parts of the world we need to hold high standards for clan behavior,at least in public view. So bottom line I think acussing a clan member of cheating, and showing questionable judgement on many occasions should be enough to revoke your recruit status, thats my 2 cents(actually 3 and change), yO mAmA

Yeah this guy Duke has greatly depreciated my Quake 2 experience.. As a matter of fact there are so many people popping up just like him in the Q2 servers, that, I find The {DOU} UT99 Sniper Server a tad bit more fun, and I find myself fiending for it daily. :birdie:
