I think Rad is saying rather than one approach to all potential recruits we could tailor our approach to each player based on how well we know them, how long they have been playing on the server, what kind of confidence we have in them, etc.

Just throwing it out there that both Evil and I have computers that seem to reject TS3. I wish we would have stuck with Vent. I miss giving Tommy shit

There are no requirements after you have been given membership. You don't have to go to TS if you don't want to. I haven't been around in quite a while as a player or an admin (work 24/7) but do keep up with things that are going on in the clan through the forum.

Point taken. And I understand working all the time, believe me. I have four kids, three jobs, two ex-wives, and a girlfriend. No joke. And a partridge in a pear tree. But seriously, although I can read about a recruit in the forum, watching them in the server or listening to them on TS3 does wonders for me. Perhaps as I get "older" in the clan, I won't need to; as I said, I understand your point. But at this stage in my Clan DOU "life," I'm not sure I would have known just what a shit bag iSudo was if I hadn't spectated him, and I wouldn't have know just how full of shit he was if I hadn't listened to him on TS.

I appreciate your logical and non-condescending feedback.

Thanks, mAmA

Actually, Most of the people who cannot play regularly abstain from the voting. That is where we rely on those who do to make the proper call.

Charger makes an important point.

You and others that are playing regular on the server and are meeting these potential recruits/recruits are the ones that will be voting for or against them and deciding the future of the clan in a sense. If you don't know anything about a particular recruit that is up for vote we ask that you abstain from voting and allow people who have had the chance to get to know them to decide whether or not they will join the clan.

My purpose in posting is to give others the benefit of my experience here so they don't have to learn what I did the hard way and can make better choices for all of us.

Both points are understood, and make perfect sense. It just always seems to be the same members abstaining or asking "who is this guy?" It would be nice if it were mixed up some, but I understand life gets in the way.

I think the hit needs to be directed at the recruit: if we can enforce getting the recruit to visit all areas of Clan DOU (TS3, Forum, Server), everyone in the Clan will have the opportunity to see that recruit in one aspect or another. I guess the real questions are how do we enforce it, and what is enough (regarding posts, server time, etc) to make the members accepting of that recruit?

Again, thanks to you and Charger for logical, mature input. I appreciate it.

He hasnt answered his posts and isn't coming around no more on the server. His end-date as a recruit is May 17th. I wont put up his vote, unless he replies his post with a very good reason for not being active, which I don't expect.

To be continued...
