I will repeat my position here.
I don't believe 30 days of being around someone occasionally is enough to get to know them. I think if they are going to flake out on us, there is a better chance of seeing it the longer we wait. If they can't wait the 90 days to be a member, they are probably not going to be aound long anyway.
I also think that is the reason a lot of older clans make them wait so long.

For the most part, the system we have works. It's because of this system, that I joined. Sure, we have some that flake but we also have some that really pay off. Rex, ALF, Dim, LowResolution, and Wave have really been great finds. I think my newest recruit Dredd is really going to be a great addition, as well. Since ALF and Dim, how many have we had that flaked on us? The majority of the recruits come in and do a good job of participation.
I don't think we need a major overhaul just a little refinement of the process. That is why I like the idea of a second vote at the end of a extended probationary period where they have been a tag-bearing member for a few months. Maybe even a review 60 days in to the period. I figure if we review them multiple times during the 90 days, we have a better chance at weeding out the flakes.
I feel bad for those recruits from other clans that come to our servers and tell us that they've been recruits for 4 and 5 months. I don't know about you, but that is definately more ass-kissing and smoke-blowing than I would care to do.
Well, have a good one folks.

A while ago I was going to suggest a jr clan be added to weed out the ones that wouldn't hang around early but I know T is most likely way against that. I was going to say I would even take charge of the little bastards so he wouldnt have to worry about it ๐ Wasn't really sure on an age group I would go w/though.

To be honest, I am just against the pre-teens being in the clan. The reasons are numerous, but a few are dealing with over-baring parents who automatically assume we are a bunch of pedophiles because little billy wants to join the clan, having to watch what we say in TS because god forbid little billy hears someone say "fuck" in team speak it would ruin him (parents of course convienently forgetting that they screamed it at their spouse like 1000 times last night in a fit of rage while Billy was in the next room), Billy's curiosity and fascination with cheats, and little billy's general fucking annoying pre-teen "me first" personality.

Nah, I understand where u r coming from. They don't need to be allowed in the regular clan rooms or even in the clan area on the forum they could have their own.
But I do see your point.

::HYST:: ......uh, no why ?
Seriously though, I agree with you. Far more minuses than pluses for the effort.

Draco,
You were one of the best new recruits ( thank me everyone ) in a very long time. Far better than me to be honest. You bring a lot more skills to the table, I am just a player.
I hope during your recruit process you didn't feel you were being forced to smooch our behinds.
During my recruit period, while I was looking forward to being official "in the clan" and saying good bye to the "r" at the end of my tag, I was here because I liked the people I was playing with, and I wanted to be here. I did not feel like I had to give sunshine enemas, or anything else like that to anyone. I was a little cautious around everyone but mostly because I was getting to know them, and them me. I would have continued to play at DOU whether or not I had been asked to join or not. I recognize not everyone thinks as I do but I tend to believe most of us are the same in the respect that we are here participating in this because we enjoy it.
I don't believe anyone who really wants to be a part of this would quit because they couldn't have their tag as fast as they wanted it.
I would be very interested in hearing from Rex, Alf, Dim, and Low regarding this since they represent some of our newest quality members.
What do you say guys ? if you had to wait longer to get your tag, would you have quit and walked away ?

I've never heard that saying before.
That's why I like DOU. I don't think I ever felt like I had to kiss ass during the process, but that's just me. It may seem different to others and I definately get that feeling from some of the other clans recruits. All in all, I love being a part of something and absolutely enjoy the time and labor I've invested.
Maybe now, that we are the masters of our own destiny in terms of servers, we can start building up the amount of regulars we get. It'll give us a nice 'gene pool' of recruits to harvest from. Have a good one.

No I wouldn't have quit and walked away. In fact I thought it would have been longer. Even as a recruit you still get to compete and take part in the DOU tourneys so it's not that bad of a wait.

Participation seems to be the key area in most cases...
I've been bad in the past but did I quit on you guys???
