I have been kicking around what to do about inactive members for quite awhile now but have failed to take action.
Here is what I am going to do for starters. I am going to take all members who have not posted for a 6 month period and place them on a list. Then I will send some type of form letter to each indicating that they are on this list. They will then be able to come here and let us know if they wish to remain a member or not.
If they do not respond by a pre-set amount of time, they will be removed from the clan at which point if they want DOU membership they will have to go through the recruitment process again, etc.
As for the pre-set amount of time, I was thinking about 3 months. Then I thought of knocking that down to 1 month. One seems too short, the other too long, but two months just sounds weird in my head, lol. I'd like some opinions on this, but I think it is time we get rolling on this.
Right now I see the following people maybe getting the axe:
Rosco
Kxethan
Gees Nuts
Maurice
Dark Sun
Moon could let us know what is up with the last two. There may be special circumstances there, and if so we may allow for that.
There are a few more that will make the list in a month or two.
The point I am most trying to make here is that I see no reason in padding our numbers with people who will most likely never be back.

I'm in agreement on this. The times set for inactivity are fair and if someone really wishes to return to DOU the recruitment process is no big hassle.
I assume you will be adding this to the recruit information?

Yeah, as soon as I have the process set in stone. We are also switching webhosts in a few days so it would be wise to change everything after that.

I agree. We talked about this some time ago. I think setting the 3 months to re-apply is fine.

i agree but 1 month or maybe 6 weeks is enough time to find out if they want to stay, if they dont read there email in that amount of time they aint very comitted to the clan anyways and as posted getting back in wouldnt be to much of a problem ..

First off, I agree with Tommy about padding our membership numbers with people who have lost interest, Definitly time to move on.
Also regarding exceptions for special circumstance, there should be.
I agree with Darkmatter regarding the length of time needed for a response. I think 4 weeks is very reasonable to post an interest in staying in the clan or not. It only takes a few minutes.

I misread the original post. I agree 1 month is plenty of time for them to respond. I was thinking about the 3 month waiting period to re-apply to the clan once they were already out.

As I wrote to you Tommy, maurice won't be active a lot (or a few !!) because of his health prob that makes him go to bed very early for our french time so, for your timezone !!.... A worse matter !
An his sons have been asked by parents to play less a lot as the school results were not good last year.
But I'll ask maurice precisely what he feels about his membership ! I'll let you know then... 🙄

I think it is only right to let your Clan know if you are still active or not? I think 6 weeks would be A o.k amount of time to reply... But if they are still around at all they should be able to replay sooner unless they have special serc. like overseas at war or sumthing???
