Since we have decided to suspend the requirement that people be around for a period of time before becoming a recruit, why not get a hold of some of the recent applicants and let them know that they can become recruits if they still wish it (before they go to FUN or elsewhere). Might be some decent people in the bunch.

Sounds as if #'s are more important now...
Wish I could have made the meeting, (not that my .02 would have mattered), but would have been nice too here all the huplah.
Let me guess, Obama is taking our sniper rifle away and leaving us w/the chainsaw...
I will explain what was discussed at the meeting regarding this.
Yes and no.
In a sense the #'s are in fact more important right now. Here is why. The game has dropped off quite a bit lately with less and less people being out there. We need to fill the clan back up with quality players so that when things go real bad traffic-wise we have a decent amount of clan members left to play with on our server. Otherwise we run the risk of people going elsewhere, or worse, leaving for a different game, and in doing so, cutting shorter the life span of DOU's UT99 games.
However, the 3 month recruitment period will still stand and the players will still have to prove themselves. Does this mean we will have a problem again with people joining and then later disappearing? Yup, it sure does. But if only 1 in 10 turn out to be decent long-term members then it was worth the trade-off. We might get a handful of people that will breath life into the UT99 side of this clan for awhile to come. As for the others, we will just get rid of them as we need to. That was discussed at the meeting as well and I will mention it when I post the meeting re-cap.

Sounds like a good plan and well thought out to me.
