As many of you know, {DOU}Charger provides our Team Speak server for us. He contacted me recently to let me know that if we would like, he would switch us over to Ventrilo.
This is because I have recently been talking about how much better the sound quality of Ventrilo is. I think Chicken will back me up on this, and I believe DarkMatter as well. Chicken has actually been on my case about it and maybe this will shut his beak. Lol, j/k.
Anyway, I don't really see a downside to this. Yes, there are more Team Speak servers out there than Ventrilo servers. But like Team Speak, Ventrilo is also a free download for the client. So I see it as being 6 of 1, half a dozen of another.
Aside from the sound quality being that much better, there are other features. For example the software handles situations where people talk over each other a lot better than Team Speak handles it. When 2 people are talking it's more like a phone call with Ventrilo instead of people cutting each other off like Team Speak.
Equally nice, you will be able to know who joins a server now when in game as the server speaks out the name of the person who joined the server or channel. There is a field for this in the client so you can get the system to pronounce it properly. I have mine set to "an asshole." So then I join the OMA or Snack Attack (Former LOL) vent servers, the system announces to everybody "An asshole has joined the server." Yes, I crack me up. 😛
But, as with all things DOU, let's talk it to death first. Then I will go ahead and do what I want anyway. 😮

P.S. The OMA folk have said that all are welcome to jump on their server to check it out. Dirty Dan doesn't come around much anymore so there is no worries there.
Vent seems to have better quality, and it has some pretty cool features. I haven't been on it much, but it seems to be better =]

I think its ok if we switch. If the sound quality is better and it tells you who came in its alright by me. 8)
Makes no difference to me, I don't know how to use either one.

I checked it out the othe day and I like it only issue I had was I could not set up my scroll wheel as push to talk but a driver update sorted this . Unfortunatly knocking out all other mouse controls but I'll find a way past it if we go over, it is better sound quality though. 😈

Well, we know where I stand. The voice quality is WAY better and announcing who comes in is a great so we don't have to shout "hello new member!" all the time trying to figure out who came in. 😉

yea vent is better in sound and the fact it tells you who has joined so i say go with vent...
