I'm really sick of those guys. I do not question their skills and do not accuse them of cheating. But they are playing acoording to their own rules, not DOU rules.
I was spectating yesterday SanchoPanza on the map DM-(AMLP)AgenceRomraisinv4. Probably he killed me close. I'm not sure who really was he - MarekN, Handzbeat, Janosik? Surely a member of the DuS.
He was walking around the ledge and top of the white bookcase. [TKK]Bite_Me has been killed by him several times and willfully tried to take a revenge. When he realized, that I was spectating, gave up. Only [TKK]Puzzle was still missing to the set and a few other DuS. Every one of them says, that he knows rules, obeys them and camps better than other.
Deliberately I did not mention any noobs nor banned players.
I mean that many players outside the clan come on the server and try to impose on us their rules. They are teaching us how to play properly according to DOU rules. :loco:
Or maybe I'm wrong and don't know what exactly means "camping"?
Keep in mind that it is OUR Sever.
The more BS that you put up with the more BS there will be.
Maybe we should ban the whole [DuS] clan to start with...
I've never met anyone from that clan who could actualy camp.
I have been watching many players in the last week and not saying much to them, they are loose camping, moving back and forth and running to other spots to get a different view, if they don't see anyone in a few seconds they trans to a new spot. Like Rad says this is not camping. I think we may need to get strict on the camping rule. many players do camp well and do not stand a chance against these guys pushing the rule, as a result they get frustrated and leave, these campers are the players that we want to keep. screw the smart ass freestyle maggots.

In our server (or Clan) the rules are confusing and some are not written and we waste a lot of time policing the server.
The close killl mod does not work to everyone's taste, it only kills during respawn time.
The only effective way I've seen on other servers so that players do not run or jump all over the map with the translocator, is that the movement take away some amount of life. That way all move more carefully and runners can not play without dying.
We should try that mod instead of wasting time on these discussions and analysis.

I warn players only once and then tell them to go read the rules before I kick them.
I agree Nate - we certainly don't want to over run the server with mods.
And I practice the same rule - one warning next time your out on your face. If it happens to be a player that frequents the server - no warning at all.
The whole warn warn warn ask politely thing just promotes fuck-tardum.

I've been playing on those servers.
But finally I stopped here on DOU server. Because I found here real camping climate and nice players. That mod with no run is not so bad, but I still can not accept a sneaking and close kill. And it takes a place on those servers.

But at this time we have installed only one. The close kill mod, which has proved futile... That are the facts.
The no run mod has not been tested, so we can not know how it will work...
I believe the main problem in our server are the runners (experienced and freestyle players or noobs is the same thing). The ability to run and throw the translocator everywhere, allows assaults occur also.

I agree with r_mad we should try the no run mod our server is over run by "runners experienced and freestyle players".
The 'NOCloseKill' Mod is doing a good job imo.
It's a mistake to think we have only one mod on the server.
Besides the "NoCloseKill" we also have the "DOU No Dodge" the "No Telefrag" and the "Kick Idlers". I think there are even some more.
The "NoRunMod" will NOT reduce the excesive movement. The members who were participating in the "DOU Extreme FN Camping Ladder" will know what I'm talking about. Players know exactly how to stretch the bounderies of that Mod and the 'problem' will be the same as before.
The so called 'noobs' arent the problem here, because they're just merely target practice. The real problem players know the rules and also know to get around every mod at any time. The real solution is to police the server more and to DEAL with the real problem players.
If its a well known guest, kick him of the server at instance with the words "go read the rules". No three times warnings etc. They WILL get the idea at the end or will be BANNED. Three strikes out !

I know we have other mods. These mods have been around for years, and are not intended to eliminate the runners...
I've played on different servers for many years, and the no run mod does prevent players run, especially the noobs and the excesive trans use. I know you do not like it, but I like it, and several other players do also. Is very useful if you really want camp...
Respect the close kill mod, is a widespread opinion that does not work or is misapplied. Is not doing a good job. Almost every day we heard claims or questions respect this mod in the server.
The noobs are a problem, since they bore the experienced players, they do not know the rules and give us (the administrators) more work and in addition in the team games they unbalance the scores.
Each mod has its advantages and disadvantages. The only thing I suggest is to change the close kill mod for the no run mod, and to watch the results for a while, and then decide.

I agree wholeheartedly with Natan here. I don't play mostly because of the butt heads that break the rules. I totally suck at free style and when I cannot camp because of them I leave. Before I log in I check our home page to see who is playing, if there is someone that I know pushes our rule limits I don't join in. I usually don't return til I see the security threads diminish somewhat.
I was a captain in the first FN ladder and was dismayed at what others see as "camping". In the second ladder I was a Ref, It was amazing how much movement people were doing and that was modded to the max.
LoL had a great server, it was one of the best places to play. Eventually they modded the server so much it was no longer any fun there. It is one of the reasons they are no longer around.
I understand we want a popular server as to keep our active membership up. Having to constantly weed out the butt heads is the price we must pay to keep UT99 and more importantly DOU alive.
Policing is the answer. That said, I know that our admins have their hands full. They do a great job, It is a thankless task which I do not envy.
We all know who is pushing the limits of our rules all the time. Veteran players from other clans who come here are very rarely going to become DOU members. From the security threads which get posted there are quite a few who break or push our rules. So why do we allow them to keep doing so.

Replacement of the NoCloseKill mod for the NoRun mod is the worst we could do and it ainβt going to happen. The NoCloseKill works perfectly within his range.
The noobs arent the ones creating problems on the server. They dont have a clue and, like I said before, are just easy targets.
The real problem are the ones who come to βplayβ on the server with an attitude. New names, different IPβs, but still the same troublemakers.
Policing and upholding the rules are the only answer. Its just as in real life. You can make laws and obstacles as much as you want, but without some policeforce to uphold those laws it wont change a thing.
