BAN / KOS / Appeal Procedure !

BAN

All bans are permanent. Permanent bans are voted for by the DOU members. Members will have to choose YES, NO, or OTHER. The yes votes need an explanation. This is the opposite of a membership vote where a no vote needs to be explained. These ban votes are private. As such, the persons involved does not get to defend them self. When ever a vote is cast that takes an action against a person, it should be explained. This way, a negative vote (ban) is justified. Since the vote is private, not only do we hold the responsibility of being judge, jury, and executioner, but of defense counsel as well. This is the only way to do this in a way that is even remotely fair.

Bans will be permanent but with an appeal process. The process can be informal, we will just deal with people on a case by case basis. However, when banned, even if the appeal is successful, it can not be lifted before 30 days. This way, even if we decide to give someone a second chance down the line, there are still consequences to their actions.

An appeal to a ban can be made on the Complaint Department of the General section on the forum.

There will be a thread made for the banned player for just that purpose.

If one should not appeal the ban stays permanent.

If we discover, while appealing, a player is playing under a different name and or IP the ban stays permanent.

BAN / KOS

A permanent banned player will be put onto the permanent ban list. This is a list of people who are no longer welcome at DOU. If they get around their ban they will be put onto the KOS list also. On the KOS list are players to Kick On Sight if seen on the server. Mostly due to a revolving IP this is at the moment probably the best way to deal with players like this.

IMMEDIATE BAN ( without the need to vote )

* For members or guests who are caught cheating we have a "zero" tolerance policy. If any member is caught purposely running any type of cheat they will be immediately expelled from Clan DOU. Once caught with a cheat there is no way to make an appeal.

* Guests who do repeatedly curs and swear on the server and are warned many times by an Admin not to do so can also be banned immediately.

* If a guest is wearing the {DOU} tag with the only purpose to abuse the name.

(for example {DOU}areLosers).

* Players/Guests that are disrespectful time after time when they're being kicked can even be banned without vote.

The procedures above are build up out of inputs from posts by Tommy, Darkmatter, Yo_mAmA and made into one package by me. They are fine and dont need to be questioned In my opinion.

I've only compressed them in one overview.

APPEAL PROCEDURE

This procedure is new to us, so we need to think about it now that it has become relevant.

We should ask ourselves these questions before we consider an appeal successful:

* Is the appeal motivated?

* Does the appeal sounds sincere?

* Did the person involved made appologies?

* Does one need to state his appeal on TS3 by an oral hearing?

* Do we allow an appeal just once or is under certain, limited, circumstances, a second appeal allowed?

- If the appeal is not to our satisfaction the ban stays permanent.

- If the appeal is successful the permanent ban will be cleared after 30days, starting from the moment we agreed the appeal was successful.

- If we discover, while appealing, a player is playing under a different name and/or IP the ban stays permanent.

-The person involved needs to get voted in again to get unbanned !

Dont let this take weeks, so reply with changes and adjustments on the appeal process and I will edit them in, if usefull. I will be editing this constantly untill we have something we think is usefull to work with. Please feel free to contribute.

This post is under construction !

looks good to me.

Two things.

I think the length the person appealing Disobeyed our rules should have some effect on the appeal process. I.E. Earliest to latest security posts.

Also there should be only one appeal.

At this moment Conman has made an appeal to his ban.

There will be a vote to see of the clan is willing to honor his appeal to unban him.

I'm thinking about adding this text to the posts where we're telling players they are banned. On the complaint department. Suggestions?

All bans are β€˜permanent’. Permanent bans are voted for by the DOU members, except by running cheats, nicklaming and harasment/abusement.

Bans will be permanent, but with an appeal process. When banned, even if the appeal is successful, it can not be lifted before 30 days. An appeal to a ban can be made on this thread, or by sending a message to the author of this topic.

If you should not appeal, the ban stays permanent. If we discover, while appealing, you're still playing on the server the ban stays on.

If the appeal is not to our satisfaction the ban stays permanent. After the appeal you need to get voted in again by the DOU clan to get unbanned !

An appeal is a process for requesting a formal change to an official decision.

If the appeal is successful the permanent ban will be cleared after 30days, starting from the moment the appeal was voted for.
