Banning

OK i'm all for banning players who for one reason or another deserve but it needs to be fair i think the warnings we give now are slightly wrong in that we warn and warn and warn then hit the ban his ass...

I think it should be warn and warn but then put a temp ban on them to let them know once and for all its going to be permanent ban if they don't change there ways..

We need to use the watched players thread too to enforce this better there are a few admins that can add names to the list based on complaints made in the security section i don't want that thread open so that anyone can just add a name.

Thats fine but =& has been warned enough. We need to make an example of him so others know we are serious and that we are sick of the bullshit.

I agree that there should be some type of penalty between getting kicked and getting banned like a suspenion. I also believe, as I have stated in a couple of other threads, that banning him for just leaving his trans out when it has never been posted in either rules section is wrong. Also he did not get a frag from it and no one was assaulted.

In fairness to all concerned =& was suspended from our server for quite a while. He received his first warning on record June 27th 2008. That is over a year and a half ago. There were many warnings issued after that before he was suspended, some on record, some not. I myself warned him too many times to count and many times telling him what he had done wrong and making a reference to the rules for the sniper server posted on the forum. When we decided to give him a second chance and allow him to play on the server again I went along with it. So in fact he has had the benefit of both a suspension and a second chance.

At what point do we write someone off as a player that will not play by the rules and someone that is ruining other players fun and driving away server traffic ? How many chances are enough ? How many warnings ? How many Posts ?

There should be a limit.

When a player is not playing by the rules who's word do we take ? If there are only one or two then they should be the ones policing the server. IMO... If we can't take an admins word for something they should not be an admin.

Allowing rule breakers to return to our server again and again is hurting our reputation and our server traffic. Since Memetic and the SS clowns have been waging war against us, server traffic is less than half of what it was or dam close. For me, the amount of people in our server is always a measure of how good a job we are doing. When people are unhappy, they leave and play elsewhere.

😀

Everyone that plays on the server thinks we are pushovers and unwilling to permaban for multiple offenses.

I have heard that also.

I like the temporary ban for two reasons. One it gives a player a chance to reflect on his actions, and two it may stop the retaliations like mimetics and ss's.

These are good points *DARKMATTER*. Part of the reason it hasn't worked out this way in the past I think is lack of communication. When someone gets kicked, a thread or a post in that person's kicked thread should always be made so we have a clear idea of how often this is happening. With some players this gets neglected, although mimetic's and =&s threads got frequent updates...
