We have been having problems with too much running on the server from certain people, and as a result some of the better players haven't been coming around. This has hurt our traffic.
As I stated elsewhere, no GEOF members are welcome here anymore, period. I don't care if they are playing by the rules or not (when they see an admin). If you see a GEOF member, kick them immediately.
A lot of DOU members are complaining as well. However, a few of them are running and gunning on the sniper server as well when they decide it is appropriate to do so. I came very close to kicking a DOU member last night when I was spectating. I decided to walk away instead and clear my head.
Everybody bends a rule here and there, this is not what I am talking about. I am talking about blatent RNG.
So here is the deal. Our rules apply to clan members as well as the other players on the server. We need to set an example for the other players. Who would have thought that I would have to say this? Those members of DOU who do not follow the rules are soon going to find themselves getting kicked from the server as well. If this causes problems and pissed off members, then sobeit. Better that then the server and rest of the clan suffer for your selfishness. If kicking doesn't resolve the issue I will take it to another level.
On a similar note, 2 fun members, Omegaman and Rex, are very close to being banned as well. Both disregard our rules and Omegaman has a sharp tounge to boot. Be forewarned that if this happens it will surely stir up more shit with Draco and a long drawn-out drama-fest will follow.
Tommy
BTW, none of the posts I have made about this stuff today are April Fools jokes. See a smile on my face? Nope.

It can get so frustrating sometimes when trying to play a game and it gets ruined by some asshole with no respect. It seems to me that R&G is contagious. A camper can't beat them, so they try to join them because it is so unfair to the campers to be assaulted with no way of winning the dual. I find it much more enjoyable to play in the DOU matches. Heck, if there were a DOU only server, I would play on it at every opportunity. I know that I am in the minority here, but I had more fun when the server was quiet.
Here is my question. What can I, as a non-kicking member of the clan, do to help?
1. ALWAYS observe and practice the rules.
2. ?
3. ?

Could be...
2. Post on the forum about the names of lamers and their behaviour
3. Warn them about consequences of their actions
I think Tommy is doing a good job for the respect of the rules and I'm convinced this will work after time. 👿
I agree 100% with Tommy, We must police ourselves the same as we police others.
I for one do leave when the RNG gets going. I also leave when the Deemer crap gets going. I come to have some fun, I refuse to get aggravated over a game. If am getting aggravated by the non-camping BS I just leave and go play somewhere or something else.
I see no problem kicking DOU members who either follow or lead the way by not camping. If they cry foul and want to take their ball and go home, good, we survived the last guy who did that.
What we do need is a few more people with kicking ability. The three that are doing it now, while doing a superb job are just not enough.

We have more than three.... 😈

I agree I find the dou matches much more fun then the server for that very reason. And with the creation of the 2v2 tournaments the practice server stays set up for 2v2 and we can't go there and play anymore when runners do come to the server. can we have more ppl that can set up the server as well. or at least stress changing the server back after the matches are done? I know that doesn't help the traffic on our public server but at least it will keep our members from going to another clans server.

Maybe even just tweaking it so bots balance the teams. I wouldn't mind seeing that for practice sake.

The point is however many we do have it is still not enough.

I thought I'd put a fresh post on here because while I was spectating tonight there was at least one DOU member who was engaging in Spawnkilling as well as some R&G.
If we are to expect others to follow our server's rules, WE MUST ALWAYS SET THE EXAMPLE! Otherwise we look like assholes for not practicing what we preach.
If you can't step up, sit the match out.
End of rant.

If this behavior is going on, I suggest that the member be warned on Vent. If the member is not in Vent, then warn them in game chat the same way that we warn others. If they continue, boot em. If they have an issue with it, they can come here to the Members Only section and plead their case.
I do not know who this post is referring to, but no matter if it is a {DOU}, {dou-r}, or {DOU-M}, they still have DOU in their tag and as such SHOULD be held to a higher standard. It is our obligation to uphold the rules to be an example to the UT community.
People... do you really want the stigma of having everyone in the game see "{DOU} X was kicked from the session" on your own server? 😕

I observed the same phenomenon from more than one DOU member. And this, many times (in my timezone of course). I never said anything about that but, I think that next time, I'll PM the names to Tommy.
I think DOU members must be fair and follow the rules even if some visitor is playing besides the rules.
Unfortunately, because of my ping, I have not much fun to play so, I'm rarely playing, but as I still love to be a DOU member, I often spectate.
I can say that if a DOU member was behaving like we're saying while I am playing : I would leave immediately (or kick him 😉 ).
This is not a good thing for our DOU SNIPER server.
So, if DOU members want to run and gun or freestyle : go to Geof's server, they're waiting for you... 😀 (and there are many others) but when you're back : CAMP ANS SNIPE... isn't it a sniping and camping server ? ❓
Part of the R&G problem is that people vote for small to medium maps when we have 10, 11 and 12 or more people. I forced map changes twice yesterday because they degenerate into assault fests for strategic areas on the map.
Is there a way to restrict map choices according to the number of people in the server at time of map voting?
Nope, not with what's currently out there. It would be nice and I have looked for a feature like this. And I do believe it is not a matter of people just not knowing what they are voting for. You see people voting for that same small map that they love regardless of who is on the server.
Just keep changing the maps as you see it necessary.
