REDRUM tried coming on during "Abandoned City-Dark". Tried to come on twice and was kicked twice for using a hook. Looks like our security mod is doing its job!

Played with him this morning, he was the same as he used to be, then head-shot me 3 times in a row on a huge map...made me wonder for a sec but I thought, nah, can't be cheating, it's redrum...he's the first regular to ever come to our server...he was around before DOU even existed...I asked where he had been and he said he didn't have a net connection...said he would be back a lot more now...guess what...he won't be. The log isn't posting right, i'll clean it up and post it in the morning...I will also ban him then...
What a shame...oh well, can't be tolerant of cheaters, even on the first offense. If we are then we will get a reputation and nobody will come to the server and no teams will want to play against us...we will be labeled as cheaters too. It's harsh I know, but redrum is an adult and he knew the risk he was taking. Also, let it slide and he will chill until a new version of helios comes out that utdc is still being updated to check...he will be able to cheat until the new version comes out.
This sound about right with everyone else?

Didn't know redrum was around that long. But as you say, the rules are the rules and he should have known better. I fully agree on the ban.
However, should these ban's have a time limit or should they be indefinite?
People can change sometimes. I have no idea how anybody else feels about this but I thought I'd throw it out there.

hey guess who i saw today playing on the suf server r little friend Razor i told the leader of the board and told him to wacht out for him.When i was playin out of nowhere on a huge map and i was hiding really good didnt have one death and like 10 mins in the game bam head shot went to another spot bam same again nobody but him shot me then but i think he has a new plan when he kills people he waits a bit then he shots but o well

I am going to look through the server log in a few minutes and if there is anything else in it that should be added to the zip, I will do so and then post an update.
As far as bans only being temporary, here is my opinion on that. Another way of saying someone is cheating is to say that they cannot be trusted. So we toss the person on a temporary basis. First, would they ever come back? If I were banned from a server unjustly I would never want to come back. If it were just, i'd be too embarrassed to come back. But I think I would have hard feelings either way. So, a banned person comes back, how well would they be received? Would you trust them? If they weren't cheating but were in the zone and ran a map, would people be accusing them of cheating anyway? Would we always be worried they were back to take revenge on us for banning them?
That all sounds a bit extreme, I know. But you have to remember that we are dealing with a person who doesn't care about a fair and fun game. They are thinking only of themselves, to win at all costs and screw the fairness. We are talking about ego-maniacs here and ego-mniacs are just the type to get pissed and want revenge when they were banned...after all, how dare someone mess with them and not let them do what they want, when they want.
Think of it this way...who here would like to see Razor come back?
And the funny thing is, i'd rather see razor back then redrum. Razor is just a kid, and as we all know kids do stupid things but most out-grow that stuff and become decent people. But redrum is a full-grown adult, all he will be concerned with is how to not get caught next time.
Thats my view on the whole deal. Opinions? Rebuttal?

His first mistake was coming to the server with the cheat running.
The way around that is to wait until after utdc checks your system and then run the helios.exe program. This is how most cheaters get around the protection.
While it does use a bit more in the way of resources, I have utdc set to check every 5 minutes or so. This way if someone does try to run the hook after connecting, we will most likely still bust them.

Yeah ! That's good to know UTDC doesn't let the helios hook enter. Does it work with radar and others ?...

My understanding is that it looks for most things. I will post a list of what it does look for.

What does helios 3.1 do? And what about that "radar" that Moon mentioned?
Got any kind of glossary as to what all the different ones are and what they do so I know what I'm talking about should I run into any more of them?

I agree with John on this one (go figure 😛 , that wont happen often 😉 ) I would like to know what every thing means too. Glossary of terms would be great!
