Conclusion of the Zjones Ban Vote.

The poll for Zjones his ban was up for a week and has ended.

As you all could read in the First post of the thread, marked in yellow , the yes votes needed an explanation to count. This is a rule that has been set by Tommy.

This is the reason for that rule:

The yes votes need an explanation. It is the opposite of a membership vote where a no vote needs to be explained. Remember that these votes are private. As such, the person involved does not get to defend himself. When ever a vote is cast that takes an action against a person, it should be explained. This way, a negative vote is justified. Since the vote is private, not only do we hold the responsibility of being judge, jury, and executioner, but of defense counsel as well. This is the only way that makes it even remotely fair.

Now that's being explained. Here is the conclusion:

The end results of the vote reads 9 in favor for a ban and 5 rejections.

I count 6 yes votes that have been explained.

Therefor the official outcome of this poll is 6 in favor, 5 rejected.

That makes it a 54% to 46% for a permanent ban

54% yes, is ofcourse a majority, but 8% in difference with the no voters is a thin margine.

In matters like this, where the clan is clearly devided, it is very important to strictly uphold the rules that have been set.

However, there was a suggestion for a discussion about the end results of the vote, and I am willing to give that discussion a chance. This discussion will last for a week and Zjones wont be alowed to play on the server. Zjones should be informed of the intern discussion, so he knows he’s on trial here.

The no voters will need to convince the yes voters, so it seems. If they dont succeed Zjones permanent ban will be inevitable

Let’s just say what we have to say to eachother in a respectfull and mature way.

The outcome of this discussion will be final !

Hey Abb, I am thinking you do want him banned in that case you should be voting yes to ban. Correct me if I am wrong.

Also Natan I voted abstain as i have had no experience with him, but got caught up in the drama and forgot to explain.

I do not think that this vote, with a result so close, and that is causing so much division of opinion, need to be solved at this time.

When we voted other cases, there was always unanimous.

In the past, in the case of Geof clan (a plague not a single individual), it was a long discussion because the opinions were divided, some wanted to ban individual players and others proposed to ban the entire clan.

The problem was that there were players in that clan respectful of the rules, and they would pay the consequences.

Due that, Tommy and mAmA asked me this time to make some arrangements with that clan, which failed, and then our clan took the decison to ban the entire Geof clan.

That is the way I believe we need to do in the future. A discussion first, some actions or tasks after (only if necessary), and subsequently a votation.

In this case, if we force this decision, no doubt also will be forced some internal attitudes, especially after it has reached the personal attack.

Like it looks at the moment Zjones will be getting his permanent ban.

There is however a catch. Like anyone else who gets banned, also Zjones will have a chance to appeal to his vote. Now with the clan devided about the outcome of the vote, I will take this appeal very seriously.

This probably aint over yet. When Zjones puts up an appeal, we will need to have a discussion about it. After the discussion I will have to put up another vote poll again.

I’ve given R_Mad’s post some thoughts and I’m affraid that she has a good point here. The words inevitable and final posted in the post above are therefor to rigid.

He is banned as per today.

His ban will not be permanent as I will expect an appeal from him to his ban. I will take this appeal very seriously. The clan is to much devided on this subject for a permanent ban.

After his appeal we will have another discussion again, followed by yet another vote. The outcome of that vote will be final.

This whole thing may seem cumbersome, and it is, but I should have followed this scenario way from the beginning of this ban procedure.
