I was in Vent Dark. I asked whoever that was twice to please come to vent. They ignorred almost everything we said to them and needless to say, Tommy never appeared in Vent. He did show in idle.

It was me. I believe that in addition to saying "what?" I also said "Back off." Seriously, you guys have access to move me out of idle. I was in the FN TS server as well chatting with people there after a meeting. At the time I went into the game however, I was in vent alone.

That said, here comes the following. I was playing the game and was winning. The last thing I wanted to do was to have to stop playing and somehow prove I was who I said i was. All you had to do if you were concerned was to check my IP. However, I was playing clean, breaking no rules, and just minding my business. By handling that the way you guys did (Mama and Cygnus), you just showed the other players on the server that you didn't know what you were doing.

When the map ended, I was pissed off so I left the server. Nobody else was in Vent.

There is a difference between spectating problem players and being the UT99 Nazi police. I guess I am still a bit pissed off by that. I left a clan like that to create something better.

This coming weekend we need to set some time aside and train those who spec / police the server in what they can do to get info on a player and what they should / should not do when there is a problem.

All you had to do is make a joke about Razor or say something we would know came from you. You are right in your saying I don't know how to check an IP, that is true. By not answering either of us our suspicion that you might not be you increased. I was in Vent and asked twice if you would please come to vent at the end of your game. You usually are in vent. I did not know I could pull you from idle. I've never done that before. We are not Nazi Police nor are we trying to be, I resent that remark. Especially considering I've Kicked 3 DOU imposters in the last 2 weeks. I did what the extent of my limited training allowed me to do. Last time I checked, it is against the rules for a non-member to wear a DOU tag. I've sacrificed a lot of my own playing time to try and keep the garbage off our server, and over the last several months there has been a lot of garbage.

I have to agree with mAmA on this. It definitely wouldn't have taken much to let us know it was you. And no, I have no idea how to move you from idle or check an IP.

As far as being the UT police goes we all can just let everybody run and gun all over if they want...YOU police the server and deal with the shit.

This is the part of all this that got me the most pissed off. There were if I remember correctly 16 players on the server. It was the last 5 minutes of the game and i was winning by a small margin. I was way to busy holding my lead and did not see all of the messages except the last one I responded to which was "Tommy, answer me or I will assume it is not you." I realized that i had to respond to you as I was about to get kicked, so I had to stop playing where I was and type, and could have been taken out and lost my lead. That's why I just quickly typed "back off." I figured it was quick and would give you a moments pause so I could finish the game.

How so? I wasn't breaking any rules. i wasn't running a cheat. There was nothing going on that should have caused you to question me in the first place.

But...when the map ended I quit the game and did bring vent to the foreground. Neither you nor Cygnus were there.

Right, and I am glad that you did. But the same thing that almost happened to me almost happened to Razor a few days ago.

O.K., now that's just mellow-drama. I do appreciate your (and mama's) efforts (as I am sure does the rest of the clan). However, we have rules in place (that have been in place for a long time) so that events like this don't happen. I see members spectating all the time and they are rarely in vent while doing so. Not just you and mama.

We kick people when they are breaking the rules, beit game play rules or nick laming. We can't start kicking people without proof of mis-conduct. The old "Kill 'em all and let God sort it out" thing is just wrong. i would rather a guilty party slip through the net then have a clan member get kicked unjustly.

If you guys strongly disagree with me, please post and let's continue to discuss this, but I want you guys to understand why this made me so mad. I don't think I am being unreasonable, but tell me if you think so.

I was in no way being melodramatic. I'm not spectating, policing or having anything else to do with with the sniper server for now.

You can't play more than a few matches on the server without having to deal with the R&G...some of it from our own people.

I'm tired of dealing with the crap and I'm taking a break from it.

The last 3 jokers we had in here pretending to be DOU acted as you did. They said "hi" when they first came in and played clean. Also, earlier that Day, Darkmatter commented to me in Vent that you were having drive issues again.

If you can't see how all that might have looked funny to us after whats happened recently no amount of bantering is going to change your mind. Our intentions were to get rid of someone who might be impersonating our leader. What better cover to assume than of the one person no one would question .....???

Oh wait, I didn't receive any training. I got a 3 minute tutorial on how to login, how to kick, and the clan rules to refer to, nothing more.

If you wanted certain protocols observed you could have spent some time educating me on how all this should be done. Before last month, we never had to deal with anyone posing as one of us.

I was in vent the entire time we were spectating you. There should be some kind of log to verify that. After you left the server I typed on screeen to Cygnus that If you did not come to vent in 5 minutes I would post. I waited 10, all the while in the main lobby of Vent. I never heard you enter or leave. I went to the forum and started this thread.

If this struck some kind of nerve with you because it reminded you of your old clan I can't help that. I don't feel like I have anything to appologize for. My intentions were 100% honorable. I am one of a handfull of volunteers who give of their time to try and make playing here a good experience for all. Considering that, you might have just pm'd Cyg and I to meet you in vent to dicuss some issues you have with our rules enforcement.

Do I think you are being unreasonable ? Yes and no. I don't think it's unreasonable for you to want us to change how we handle situations like that since it is your server and modeled after your ideal. I find your anger at us unreasonable. You seem to be angry that we didn't handle things as you would have. We are not you.Without any guidelines or training to follow we did what made sense to us at the moment.

Like Cygnus, I have had a belly full of dealing with all the cheaters, rule breakers and whiners. I am going to take a break from spectating, and adminning for a time.

I have nothing further to say on this subject.

Yes Tommy, you're right when you say that admins must know "how to".

Picking up an IP to compare it, knowing how long to wait before warnings and after warnings, knowing about idling, knowing "how to" reboot the server when it's down, aso... I'm sure there are loads of admin actions and console commands we don't know but "how" to know "how to" is the question of the day ?... 🙂

I could be on Vent sometimes but you know I miss 1 word on 5 and this isn't my solution to know more things ! 🙄

If you mind, you could pm admins a "how to" and then, meet everybody on Vent ?... idea ?...

I think Cyg and mAmA have been doing a great watching job and I'm not sure they didn't do what was needed in the case of what's said in this subject.

More, I'm almost certain that if I had been spectating at that moment, I'd thought that this {DOU}Tommy wasn't the real one !...

But in my opinion this isn't that imortant ! 😉
